About this listen

"Forgive me, Father, for I will sin."

Adam: Catholic priest. Celibate. Does not yield to temptation.

Emil: Sinner. Seducer. Snake. Hot as hell itself.

After a sheltered childhood ruled by religion, all Adam wants is to be a good priest and make his parents proud. But it’s hard to stay virtuous in a big city like Warsaw, and when he makes one slipup, his life spirals into ruin. He is sent to a tiny mountain village, where he hopes to live down his shame and work on restraint.

But staying celibate becomes far from easy when he meets Emil - a local man with long dark hair, a mysterious past, and as little morality as he has luck. Emil has no qualms about flirting with a priest. Worse still, he seems hell-bent on tasting forbidden fruit and unearthing the desires Adam has always kept hidden.

The odd village hides secrets far more sinister than Adam's insatiable lust for Emil. Old Slavic magic looms everywhere. Superstition mixes with reality. Someone is watching his every move. Someone follows him in the dark, lurking in the shadows of the ancient forest. Adam is plagued by disturbing events, and Emil could be his only salvation even if he is the devil himself.

Can a priest shepherd the black sheep to safety, or has he been the wolf all along?

Warning: This dark, paranormal m/m romance features scorching-hot, emotional, and explicit scenes. The story contains scenes of violence, offensive language, self-harm, and morally ambiguous characters.

Hauntingly good!

5 Blue Roses
4 Blue Flames

Narrator Wyatt Baker delivered a hauntingly good audiobook with an upbeat manner, making it an entertainment not to be missed. We kicked off with laugh out loud moments, dipped in paranormal holy wonder of legendary creatures from mythology, folklore and fairy tales. His delivery was as usual impeccable, while his cadence and voice suits the darker side of MM paranormal romance. Coupled with his amazing ability to cast the experience as a front row seat performance. Listeners won’t be able to stop listening, as he compels them to finish it in one sitting.

Being a scaredy-cat by nature, I have been having trouble sleeping for the past few nights. Thank you KA Merikan for making me attentive to those bloody dark corners in my room. So, now I don’t know where to look, I can’t look at the corners, under my bed or even in the fucking window! So, yes, now I lie face down with my head in the pillow, while trying to suffocate myself to sleep.

So, Adam is a priest, a young fresh and gay priest who was born with a tail. Yip, a fucking tail! Anyways, he is horny and naughty, so he gets caught with gay paraphernalia. Off with him to the corners of the earth we go! He is supposed to spent his time contemplating, but that is not what evil planned for him. OMG, so he meets Emil, a.k.a crow whisperer, and naturally, all dark and evil people are as sexy as fuck. The rest is one nerve wracking experience. (Not, going to spoil it, said too much already.)

The plot is extremely gripping and I thought I drew the line at beasteality, well, that line has blurred somewhat. Hence sleeping facedown!🤣

While Adam was running around wondering if he is gay or not. I felt a little bored. But, the weirdness and intrinsic storyline made up for the usual cookie cutter steps to accepting “I am gay, please come fuck me” final third in the book. It was a magnificent reveal and the descriptions of the big reveal was extremely well done.

Yip I do recommend this audiobook, in fact I like it so much I am nominating it for a Blue Encore, because I want to re-listen to this again.

Happy Listening

Broome's Books Review

I'll say this, Wyatt Baker does a phenomenal job narrating K.A. Merikan books. He's got a grit and authority to his voice that fits the dark, morally ambiguous novels they produce. He can even narrate *cough* those *cough* scenes well. That being said, this was a miss for me plot wise. I really wanted to like this book, because I love all of their books. The chemistry between Emil and Adam fell flat. It wasn't developed enough for it to be believable. I was fascinated by the occult and darkness this book offered but it did not hit the mark. It went a little too far for me. If you are in the market for a horror M/M book, then this one is for you. Be warned that there is dubious consent, very dubious consent.

Where the devil says goodnight.

Thank you for the Audio,I voluntarily give this book an honest review. Adam had been caught with a skin magazine which in its self wouldn't be so bad but when you had been in the priesthood under three months meant he was in hot water. Being sent to "reflect" in a remote village is dreadful to the young priest. Emil is in the small village that is filled with deep superstition as a gay man he is afraid to venture out of his comfort zone. When a murder/death falls in the town who is the first to get blamed? Here we have one young man turned to religious beliefs for his own shame in his sexuality and one that knows just what he wants even if he has to hide it behind closed doors just how long can that door stay closed is a guess. Could Adams mama be right about the town of Dybukowo? Wyatt Baker is an amazing narrator of this book he just brings the characters off the pages to where you imagination runs free. Great job over all with this book.

Good Idea Bad Execution

I like spooky stories, so I have no qualms with the subject matter. This book felt like it needed a rewrite or some editing. It really didn't feel like the character Adam needed to be a priest. Why he became a priest or why it mattered to him didn't feel flushed out. He could have just been a guy who came from a religious family, and the story would have been the same. At certain points you REALLY needed to have a suspension of disbelief to get through this. Without going into spoilers the ending felt tacked and rushed on in some parts. If you're really bored or curious give it shot, but I don't recommend this as a first pick.

Amazing!

I'm never disappointed with a book from K.A. Merikan. Where the Devil Says Goodnight is no exception but isn't for everyone. You have to listen/read this book with your eyes and mind wide open, really you just have to jump in with both feet and enjoy the roller coaster this book will take you on. It will suck you in and won't let go. Adam, a Catholic Priest, finds himself in a small town where the locals have their own traditions. Adam meets Emil, a local who has the worst luck but seems to take a liking to the new priest in town. What happens when they get together..... I now understand why Adam's mother didn't want him to leave home.
This book is dark, intense, and honestly quite disturbing at times but there is some tenderness to it also. The end I did not see coming. This is book 1 in their Folk Lore series. I can't wait to see what's next.
Narrator Wyatt Baker does an absolutely amazing job. He's one of my favorite narrators and I love how he brings this book to life.

Wow. I just couldn’t stop listening to this book. The storyline was so exciting. You get a interesting storyline with a few twists that give you goosebumps. The characters Adam a celibate Priest and Emil a hot sexy sinner are to hot for the ears. You get a interesting intriguing pair that take you through a series of life’s avenues andhow they ended up where they are. This was a dark paranormal romance with forbidden love. This hurt comfort adventure is amazing to listen too. The narrator did a amazing job.

Bot really what I'm used to, but I really like this story. It's different, and a lot of people would be appalled by it, I was, but in the most interested way.
