About this listen

Kyle has stayed in an abusive relationship, because he doesn't believe he deserves anything better. He hands over his paycheck and his dignity for the sake of keeping the peace.

Jonathan lives an orderly life of routine and processes. When Seb asks him to look into a case against his ex, he hesitates. Not because he doesn't want to help, but because he's afraid this gentle and broken man might sully the tidy world he needs to function.

For mature listeners.

Finding love in darkness

I read this book probably 10 times before getting a chance to hear the superb narration and cannot say how much it adds to the now familiar story.

Kyle's story is painful to read but worth the chance you take.

Jonathan ' s struggle for normality when trying to manage an overwhelming amount of issues is beautiful to see. Having OCD myself it is nice that Aria has treated it with gentle understanding. Finding the courage to let someone into our lives is never an easy thing. That process is made 10 times harder when your own brain seems hell bent on keeping everyone at arms length.

This story is beautiful and beautifully told Kudos Aria I can tell how much love and care you spent on bringing it to us and your efforts are astounding! Thanks so much.

The Ultimate Odd Couple

Kyle is a refugee from an an abusive relationship and one who feels terribly inadequate and inferior. Jonathan is a man who struggles with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) as a coping mechanism for his anxiety. Can these two men create a live together and, as they refer to it, 'love each other through the crazy'? I think they can with a little nudging from Jonathan's mother, Susan and Kyle's ex-lover, Seb.

* I a lovely quote that would make amazing wedding vows for any couple, gay or straight: "I value what you are giving me. I will never take more than you are willing to give and I'll always cherish these moments." - Aria Grace. When You Were Mine, Chapter 20, -6:08 -- -5:59

Excellent Series, Best One Yet!

I feel like every time I review a book from this series I say this is the best one yet... well, this is the best one yet.

These characters... gah, so much damage! First, Kyle. He's such a victim, and the way that damn boyfriend talks to him, I just want to kick his you know what. I can imagine, with the way he was treated by his mom, how low his self esteem is. He's so desperate for a secure, affectionate relationship it just broke my heart. As much as he needs to be loved, he needs to love and care for someone else even more.

And Jonathan, living with OCD is such a struggle and I'm glad he's got the support network that he does. Between his mom and great friends, he's made a life for himself but a satisfying love life would definitely make it all better.

There's a very powerful and beautifully written rape scene in this one, so if you're sensitive to that please take heed.

I was lucky enough to enjoy When You Were Mine in the audio book format. Michael Ferraiuolo is always amazing and brings his best to this one. He does the best tough-guy goon voice and it's perfect for the creepy boyfriend in this one.

I've been enjoying the heck out of this series and I highly recommend it. There's way more going on here than just a sweet, hot romance - Aria Grace's characters have layers to them, and the more I read the more I appreciate and understand what she's going for here.
