About this listen

Ahmalee makes candles. She never thought she'd spark a flame with Cain - a complete stranger.

A story of compassion that turns into passion.

Ahmalee Hayes’ world is interrupted when a homeless man loiters around her shop - Ivy and Eden Candle Company. Just when the business owner thinks she’s run him away, he shows up at her door - not at the shop again - and this time, he’s at her house! Can she see through the flames to lend a helping hand to a complete stranger or is the interaction too risky for the small-town candle maker? When I Needed You is book one of a two-part story. It ends in a cliff-hanger.

I Really Enjoyed This Listen

A great story about a woman with a big heart and a man who wouldn't give up. Book two is a "must listen to" also.

Surprise Ending

I was so excited to listen to this story. I have read both parts but having the audio version enhances the story for me. I love a good love story and Tina Martin does not disappoint. I hope that part two will come to audible soon.

Interesting story the ending left me wanting more. The narrator was pretty good she spoke a little fast at times. Overall I enjoyed it.

Ahmalee is Sumthin Else

#ReveiwTyM: I have yet to read Flicker but read the first 2 in the series so here we go. I'd first like to say that Ahmalee is a special human. One whose heart is so pure that doing the things she did just came naturally. Had Cain Wesley been a creep, this could've gone a completely left. Thank goodness he wasn't because Ahmalee's guard was ALL THE WAY DOWN.

Cain is a 'homeless man' looking for food. After the initial shock, Ahmalee opens her life to him; feeding him & giving him a place to stay as he gets back on his feet. Accepting the help, Cain becomes a comfortable presence; helping out around the house, becoming a friend & someone to come home to. Only this is, this relationship was built on honesty with a huge secret hovering in the background. I mean... the feelings were honest and genuine @ least. Besides, the secret is not that he has a whole 'nother family and not really a deal breaker but (in my opinion) its the deceit thats the issue. The confession took ENTIRELY TOO LONG. He had SO MANY opportunities but I digress. Ahmalee's goodness also makes her naive. So much internal dialog in this book that I found myself like, "c'mon girl. Ask out loud!" Or "just tell her!" Anyway, if a book can evoke some type of emotion, the author has pulled you in and that's always good in my mind.

This was an interesting story. Reminding you that we are all different and our daily actions can change the loves of others as well as ourselves. Flicker remains on my list but it's not my next book. It'll be good to catchup when it's time. Until then...

PS. This book ends on a cliffhanger .

Knock me off my feet!

What the hell of a surprise. I didn't see it coming. Cain, my dear loving Cain, what in this word going to get you out of the mess you made. My sweet and loving Ahmalee has a heart of gold. But, once she finds out the truth that gold is going to melt, because of the heat that fire is going to bring. I would not have guess the story was headed in this direction. The author has one hell of an imagination. I'm not one to give out SPOILERS. Take my word you will enjoy Cain and Ahmalee's story. I totally recommend. Also, the narrator did a great job. ENJO

Excellent story

I loved this story from beginning to end. Narrator perfectly brought characters to vivid life. Tina has herself a masterpiece. My only regret is that the next book isn’t available. I can’t wait until it is released, hopefully sometime soon? Definitely one of me favorites!

Wowwwwww!!!

Okay, so this book was very well written, and although the story felt preposterous at the beginning (a single Black woman experiencing such a relationship drought that she ignores all red flags to find potential partnership with a homeless man? THE BAR IS IN HADES 🤣), it evolved in a way that was thoroughly entertaining! And to be clear, my perception of it being preposterous has nothing to do with him being homeless, and everything to do with how quickly she seems to go from complete fear and derision of this man to sexual attraction, along with how much it seems she has to push him in the story do to things like look for a job and think about his future. There were certain parts that were upsetting me and my homegirls because they were more idealistic than what seemed to make sense for the circumstance.

OH BUT THAT ENDING THOOO! Loved it, and as a whole the story is really cute. Definitely excited to dig into the sequel and see how this ends!
