About this listen

The allure of Southern women is undeniable. Men are captivated by them, other women are mystified. Even the South's most treacherous enemy, General William Sherman, fell victim to the fluttery charms of a Georgia belle and loved her to the end of his life. So, what does a Southern woman have that other women do not possess?

Simply put, Southern belles survive in a man's world while wrapped in a pouf of flowery femininity and gracious manners. In fact, Southern women often over-emphasize their femininity and use it as one of their most successful tools in business and life.

What Southern Women Know is the business book for women who want to be successful without sacrificing their femininity, good manners, and family-centered traditions and life-style.

Not As Good as Reading It

What did you like best about this story?

The book is wonderful! Funny and useful and so true!

How did the narrator detract from the book?

But Ronda Rich is a terrible narrator! She is fairly monotone and her voice is high pitched and annoying to listen to. Also, she slurs words rather than enunciating! For example, "strength" is "strenth." I am used to (and LOVE) Southern accents, but Rich's accent is a country Southern and it's terrible.

Grateful

This book has helped me with something I've struggled with forever. Im Brooklyn NY born & bred with the buried deep heart of a Southern Belle. I didn't know how to combine the 2, & knew there had to be a way because I couldn't rid my Bklyn verve but couldn't make it work in a lady like way. Yes! I am a lady & want that to show. Thx Rhonda💝 Lisa Mc*

Yankee in Mississippi Loved it!

Would you consider the audio edition of What Southern Women Know (That Every Woman Should) to be better than the print version?

I really enjoyed listening to this in the writer's own voice. A very amusing presentation and I also learned a lot.

Charming & endearing

Wisdom comes in hilarious and far too charming ways. This was like sitting on my family’s porch listening to the stories of my elders and hanging on each word while awaiting the next. I loved it!

Southern charm yes; materialism no

What disappointed you about What Southern Women Know (That Every Woman Should)?

I agreed and enjoyed about the first few chapters. As southern women, we do have a certa in charm...it's care, compassion, faith, family values, strong ethics! Not CEO husband hunting and manipulating (because yes using that charm to get something out of it is still manipulating). While I don't agree with half of what she says half way thru, the humor is not lost on me! :) and I really didn't like the comments of looking down on others for not wearing makeup....while i love my trips to sephora, southern women are beautiful sans mascara! So, 'bless her heart' for thinking otherwise! ;)

Would you be willing to try another book from Ronda Rich? Why or why not?

Maybe....

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Ronda Rich?

Delta Burke, Martina mcbride, the brown haired southern girl from the cast of hart of Dixie!

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Yes,

Don't waste your time/money

What I just read was a confirmation of every negative stereotype I have ever heard about southerners. Here's all you need to know according to this book: Be judgmental, gossip a lot, eat fried chicken, hold grudges, use your sexuality to get ahead at work, always haggle when making a purchase, like NASCAR , make a mockery of the Christian faith, have good manners when you're eating your fried chicken and biscuits, northerners are to be referred to as "the enemy", wear make up to go to the mailbox and do all of this with a horrible hick accent that the rest of the country is really jealous of and wishes they had.
