Publisher's summary
Ever wonder what else is out there? So does twelve-year-old Drew Shipley, a daydreamer whose only fear is growing up. To escape his present and avoid his future, Drew and his friends roam their small town playing night tag, fantasizing about aliens and spaceships, and exploring the haunted Gladhill barn.
But Drew’s fantasies become reality when a starfighter from another dimension crashes in the cornfield behind his house: Sheela Vestril, commander of the Dimension Warriors and last hope in a galactic war to save their world from the vile Lord Malgore.
As Drew learns more about Sheela, he and his friends band together to help her complete her mission and keep her a secret from their parents, a suspicious deputy, and a ruthless gang of bullies.
But this isn't a game, and Drew and his friends have no idea what they’ve signed up for. Who is this girl and what's chasing after her? Are Drew and his friends really cut out to save the universe? Is this Drew's chance to escape the realities of his life, or will those realities follow him no matter what galaxy he's in? Time is running out, and growing up is no longer a choice: It's a matter of life and death.

Great for kids…and adults!
Weird Space was a well told story about a group of middle school aged kid based in the 80’s/90’s. It brought me back to my childhood and I think it’s the perfect story for a parent to read to their kid. It’s a sci-fi book with the feelings of Harry Potter or The Goonies. Definitely recommend!

Can’t wait for the next book!
A thoroughly enjoyable novel! Intriguing plot and good character development. Its broad appeal makes it perfect for readers of all ages, from middle grades to adult. Having taught 10-year-olds for 30 years, I think this book would be enjoyed by even the reluctant reader. And the promise of a continuing story—even better! What a great first novel from a promising new author.

Super 8 and the Girl from Dimension 9
This book follows the structures of stories like Stand By Me, Stranger Things and Super 8. Its a lot of fun and has some great 90's references. It kept me listening and I finished it in less than 3 days (I work 8 hours a night and about 4 of them I am usually able to listen as I work, I sometimes take a break from my current book for podcasts etc. Not here, I listened straight through!)
One very positive note is that there was very little cursing. Movies like those previously mentioned, often have kids cursing quite a bit. Here the kids "curse" by using words like Frankfurter! and of course Heck and Darn, This was very appricated.
The music and sound effects were very well done and enhanced the story telling! And I admit in the two days since I finished listening I have been missing the story and the music and sound effects on my other listens.
Can't wait for Book 2!
The author narrates well and the changes to his voice (acting and modulated for villians and "TokToks" were great and added to the experience.
Also a couple none too subtle Ghostbusters references which is always a plus lol.

Great story with a little nostalgia thrown in.
I really enjoyed this book! It does have a “Stranger Things” feel to it, but that’s ok because it’s really a good story that involves good friends and trouble (not by choice). It’s nostalgic in that it reminds me of being young with my friends and looking for adventure or something other than our (what we would’ve thought at the time) boring lives.
I give the author/narrator credit for the story AND doing a good job narrating it!
I can only guess (and hope) there will be a second book, which I will definitely listen to!
