It's the autumn of 1933 and Flora Ashbourne, and her policeman friend, Clemence, have been invited to join the mysterious investigators in Weeping Creek. After the century fog in their village, Eerie Bluff, claimed many lives by ghostly hands, their otherworldly experiences come full circle.
At first Flora found the body of a woman in the river beneath the medieval bridge near her cottage. With the fog over, the investigators returned home only to come upon the drowned body of someone who looks just like the first woman. Having spent months together, the secret group bring them on the case, encouraging them to polish their sixth senses.
But going from newspaper writer to investigator of otherworldly creatures is a frightening undertaking and Flora wonders if they have made a grave mistake. In spite of facing beings they never knew existed and uncovering the vile nature of malicious alien entities, they can't help but keep one foot in both worlds, even if they could die in the process.
