Publisher's summary

Clive Barker has made his mark on modern fiction by exposing all that is surreal and magical in the ordinary world - and exploring the profound and overwhelming terror that results. With its volatile mix of the fantastical and the contemporary, the everyday and the otherworldly, Weaveworld is an epic work of dark fantasy and horror - a tour de force from one of today's most forceful and imaginative artists.

Intriguing world of fantasyland and perception.I recommend this book to sci-fi readers with a very open mind.

A place for raptures

For Clive Barker, who I enjoy, this was a far cry from his “norm”. A very well executed adventure about other worlds, magic, corruption, ghosts, myth, greed, love, and survival. Simon Vance knocked the narration out of the park as usual. I WILL be listening to this again.

REDUNDANT, truly a never ending story

I like stories that are a little different, and Clive Barker is usually the master of different kinds of stories. Weaveworld had an interesting concept, a world hidden in the weave of a magic carpet, but the story was just too long. The characters were flat and disinteresting and the plot circular. The book could have ended in three or four different places, yet it just kept going. The language was also unnecessarily crude and, in places felt like one was reading a very bad pornography, not to mention the racist aspects throughout. overall a very unsatisfying story. I struggled through it, but wish I hadn't.

Loved it.

I loved this book years ago and still do. Clive Barker is a great writer not just a great horror writer.

classic

Helps derine horror. one of the true cllassics akin to the Stand and other seminal works that define a genre. reading and rereading is fully necessary for anyone that holds an interest in horror.

The bast narration i ever heard

If it was possible to give 6 stars for one book only - once to the story and once to the narrator, i was using it here for the narration. superb

Incredibly enchanting novel that kept me enthralled for weeks! Poetry and beauty written throughout and voiced very well.

Slow plot development

I do not recommend unless you are a big fan of Clive Barker or Simon Vance. The author loves to over use mildly applicable adjectives and the plot development is quite slow. Without Simon Vance, I would have stopped at about half way through.

Simon - Superb. Story a bit of a struggle

Simon Vance could read the US Tax Code and make it interesting. For me he is the only thing the at saved this book. Restarted it twice even. Story interesting, but not compelling. Could be about 3 hours shorter though. The tale just kept weaving on beyond where it should have.

Ah, but what price Wonderland?

One of my favorites! Raw and dark fantasy from Clive Barker. A great story and wonderful narration by Mr. Simon Vance. Maybe not as polished as some of Barker's other works, but a grand modern fairytale nonetheless. Epic in scale and weight.
