Fighting for love, honor, and freedom on the galaxy's lawless outer rim...

It was supposed to be an exciting job on a space station, but instead, scientist Dr. Regan Forrest finds herself fighting for her life when she's kidnapped by alien slavers. Far from Earth and forced into a violent gladiatorial arena on the outer rim, she finds herself swept into the brawny arms of a big, wild alien gladiator.

Weapon, brute, gladiator, warrior...Sirrush warrior Thorin has been called many things. As a warrior of his people, he was a dark, dangerous weapon until even his own family were too afraid of him. Sold into slavery in the Kor Magna Arena, he has long ago earned his freedom. Now he enjoys the violent but rewarding life he's carved out for himself. Until he rescues one small, smart, and perplexing female from alien slavers.

Regan is determined to make a place for herself in her new home. She may not have the skills to fight in the arena, but she's smart and knows she can help...even as she fights her attraction to the big, bold, and fascinating Thorin. She knows he'll never be interested in her. But when Regan catches a glimpse of her cousin across a crowded market, she needs help to mount a rescue, and it comes in the form of the gladiator she desperately wants. A gladiator hiding a dark, uncontrollable secret with the power to destroy them both.

Warrior is a hit

This is the second book in this latest series by Anna Hackett, and it is a great read! While it can be read as a standalone, there are references and characters from the first book that enrich the enjoyment if you go in order. This review might include some information about the first book, so if you haven't read it yet, go do that first!

Regan is trying to navigate her new situation. After being kidnapped from her research station and stranded on a far away planet, she has a lot of obstacles to get over. One positive? She has her friend Harper - who was a space marine before the kidnapping and was instrumental in Regan's rescue. (After her own story and romance that is - see book 1: Gladiator) Another plus is Thorin. Hot, hunky, and a major help in her rescue, Regan finds herself drawn to this standoff-ish man who sometimes forgets to keep away.

On a gladiator planet but no warrior, Regan finds ways to make herself useful with her botanical skills -with some surprising results. She also tries to figure out why she can't get Thorin out of her mind. Something especially difficult when Thorin himself does incredibly thoughtful things for her and is in a "friendly" mood...before withdrawing again.

The push-pull dynamic between these two is wonderful, and the obstacles don't feel like enough to keep these two apart - unless a certain bloodthirsty, greedy race has anything to do about it.

Like you do sometimes watching a show, I found myself shouting at the characters like they could hear my advice. I was gifted this book with the option to review and it is well worth the read!

Really enjoyed this one

This series continues to be a pleasant delight. Anna Hackett has a way of painting the exact picture of an alien world and even though all of the scenarios are fiction and refreshingly new, you understand the characters and their world. I liked the H/h in this book as well, both fighting an attraction that keeps pulling at them. I really like what Anna Hackett has done here - well worth the credit.

Warriors fantastic audiobook

Fierce, protective, loving warriors. This series is one of my favorite. It will also be a definite re-listen. I can't believe it hasn't gotten more reviews. The characters are all fantastic. Anne Hackett is great in building a wonderful visual effect with her words and Vivienne as narrator projects the world these warriors devote their lives protecting the the weaker aliens that are brought there against their will. DON'T PASS ON THIS SERIES!!!!

Occasional TSTL but pretty good

The narrator was pretty good! As for the story, there were a couple of times where the heroine did things that made me grumble "oh good grief, that's stupid! She's too smart to be this stupid!", but the heroes saved the day. Will definitely get the next in the series.

Hot! Hot! Hot!

Regan and Thorin- what a pair! Fantastic storyline, excellent writing (thank you, Anna Hackett for your EXCELLENT action packed books!), smokin’ hot bedroom scenes- this book has it all! After reading once, I bought the Audible version and read it again. Vivienne Leheny is pretty darned good- she has great inflection, you can distinguish characters from one another during conversations, and emotions pour forth. Great job!

Warrior

This is a terrific second in the series Galactic Gladiators. As with the Hell Squad series (another great series by Ms. Hackett) Warrior picks up where the first book, Gladiator left off in the fight to recover the humans snatched from an Earth space station. The setting is a world that is like ancient Rome on steroids with a bit of Vegas mixed in. Our hero is smart, tough and maybe a little scary and our heroine is smart and brave, making the reader want them to succeed. Again, Ms. Leheny does a wonderful job bringing the characters to life, giving all characters distinct personalities that she carried over from book 1.

save your time and money

Earth girl Dr Regan Forrest has been rescued by House of Galen and has major crush on gladiator Thorin.
Just when I thought I could get into the story, Hackett would write in a TSTL scene - all I could think was TOO STUPID TO LIVE! I have no patience for that. This is what writing groups and editors are for.
I don’t know how I bought a second book by this author. It must have been by mistake. If Audible offered to let us return a book no matter how long ago it was purchased, it would be a Hackett book. Sorry.

Very disappointed

I couldn't finish this one. I wish I could get my money back. The main female character is TSTL and the storyline was absolutely boring.
