When a magical object transports me to a perilous jungle as part of a job interview, I have to admit I'm intrigued. So what if my future-seeing sister told me to avoid the stranger offering me employment. She also told me we'd end up lovers.
I can see why. The Warden—real name Bane—is all kinds of sexy and grumpy and massively cursed. He needs me to keep him alive during some kind of arcane event. If I do, then I get to choose a treasure. Oh, and save the world.
Me, a hero? Guess we'll see because I'm about to come face to face with more monsters than I knew existed. I'll be tested. Seduced. And, according to my sister, will most likely die.

Cannot express enough how much I loved this!
Finally! I have been waiting for so long! I absolutely LOVED the role reversal on this! Instead of the women being angry and emotional and inexperienced, the man is in this book. I loved it! The only thing I didn’t like really was the narration. I’ve listened to other books narrated by her and she’s not bad perse. But I associate her voice with YA. So it’s off putting. Can’t wait for book 2!!!

Loved it!
Ms. Langlais' stories are always enthralling, and this one is no exception. The snarkiness of the Assasin is right on point and snort-worthy. The emotions felt real and added to the storyline. Definately worth the listen.

I really enjoyed the dynamic between the sisters
I kind of just don’t understand the whole point of the book. Nothing really happened and it certainly wasn’t good enough to continue the series. I will say, though that I really enjoyed the narrator of the story she was really good.
