A deeper yet unpopular patriotism

What a sharp man with great wit. You know almost every high level military officer figures this duplicity out, but it rarely comes to light.

Knowing what happens over the 90 years that follow this book, I am confident in declaring Butler a prognosticator! Too bad profiteers are also hard-working.

Outdated but

Still can be comparable to, today's war for profits. I enjoyed this book, short and sweet and to the point.

Excellent Timeless Listen

Even though this was written decades ago, it is perfectly written to explain what is happening today.

Thought provoking

General Butler is clearly a man who saw horrible things during the first world war. Many of the promises of his book seem to have been disproven by the Second World War, but are unfortunately just as applicable to modern conflicts as they were to our expeditionary ones at the beginning of the 20th century.

As a millennial generation Marine, I find, understand and agree 100% with general Butler here. But have we gotten ourselves so far into the racket that it is now too late to get out?
