Publisher's summary

The first time I met Ronan Kennedy face-to-face, it was while he was screaming down a fresh-faced analyst for being less than perfect at his job. And what's worse, he then tried to fire me for being in the way when said analyst turned away and fled—smashing my lucky cactus and ruining my knitting in the process, mind you.

Needless to say, I wasn't impressed. But I also wasn't ready for the unemployment queue. So, digging deep, I made sure Ronan had zero excuse to let me go, working myself to the bone—while squeezing in a little time for knitting every day—to make sure his previously chaotic team was now running like clockwork. I deserve a raise, but the annoyingly gorgeous boss-from-hell barely even uttered a thanks. Jerk.

That is, until I'm almost poached from his team and he's forced to face the hard truth—treat me as an equal or lose me forever.

To his credit, that's exactly what happens. And that's when things get really interesting . . .

Contains mature themes.

Sexy secretary trope

I like this story of the dowdy secretary in the knitwear taming the millionaire VC guy—especially since I’m a knitter. No angst, light steam short romp with no surprises—like a sorbet. The voice talents were not ideal. The female narrator injects unnatural pauses and the male narrator’s voices for anyone other than the MC are cringey.

Ugh, just no

The storyline is excellent. However, the writing and dialogue are super immature and cringe-worthy. The male narrator does a good job except for the MC’s best (same age) friend sounds like an 80 year old! The female narrator isn’t fluid - her reading is very choppy and she takes breathing breaks (consistently) in awkward places. It’s distracting.

Overall, I don’t recommend this one. I skipped over quite a lot so I could leave a review. Just no.

Writing=👍. Narration=👎.

Agree with all the comments. Book was decent but the strange secondary voices made things creepy. It would be worth the time if it didn’t cost money. But both money and time…you choose.

Fun story

The story is good but as others have mentioned the narration was a struggle. I tried to listen on regular speed but it was not good, bumped it to 1.5 and it was better but still not great. If you can get past it you will enjoy the story!

Fun story

The guy doing the voices of the women was horrible!
He made them sound stupid and made the other men sound old.

Great story tho narrators left something to be desired

The story was really good. The author put a lot of thought into how the story progressed. The female narrator was awful. She was so robotic in her narration it was a struggle to listen to. The male narrator was better, though both needed to work on their delivery and their various characters.

Narrator almost ruined story

The story was good enough I wanted to know what happened but the male narrator almost made me turn it off a number of times. His regular voice is pleasant but when he tries to do other characters it is truly awful. He made the male best friend sound like he’s 90 years old, and when he tried to do the female voice, it sounded like my 9 year old brother imitating me when he was tattle telling to my mom. The story was a decent storyline, but the characters are barely flushed out. ^?

the narrator's cadence was so off putting

this was not a strong or very interesting story, but what sunk it like a lead anvil. it was a real struggle throughout the story because of the narration. read at your own risk 😒

needs a different narrator

I really enjoyed this story, not too much angst, and it was solved quickly, which was nice. The female narrator ended every sentence on an up tic, making everything sound very whiny it was a struggle to listen to her. The male narrator does a slightly better job but is just awful doing voices for the other characters. If you can listen to the narrators, I would recommend this. If not, I suggest getting the book and not the audio. listen to the sample

Cute story but horrible narration

This was a really cute story! There were so many aspects I thought were great, right from the beginning when the "Jerk" picks up the rolling ball of yarn and is suddenly calmed by how soft it is. It reminded me of the old saying 'it doesn't matter how tough you are, when a kid hands you a toy phone, you answer it' LOL

Unfortunately the female narrator sounded AI generated and the male narrator had a female voice impression so demeaning it was distracting and took my out of the story.
