About this listen

Amos Decker—the FBI consultant with a perfect memory—returns to solve a gruesome murder in a booming North Dakota oil town in the newest thriller in David Baldacci's number one New York Times best-selling Memory Man series.

When Amos Decker and his FBI colleague Alex Jamison are called to London, North Dakota, they instantly sense that the thriving fracking town is ripe for trouble. The promise of a second gold rush has attracted an onslaught of newcomers all hoping for a windfall, and the community is growing faster than houses can be built. The sudden boom has also brought a slew of problems with it, including drugs, property crimes, prostitution—and now murder.

Decker and Jamison are ordered to investigate the death of a young woman named Irene Cramer, whose body was expertly autopsied and then dumped in the open—which is only the beginning of the oddities surrounding the case. As Decker and Jamison dig into Irene's life, they are shocked to discover that the woman who walked the streets by night as a prostitute was a teacher for a local religious sect by day—a sect operating on land once owned by a mysterious government facility that looms over the entire community.

London is a town replete with ruthless business owners, shady government officials, and religious outsiders, all determined to keep their secrets from coming out. When other murders occur, Decker will need all of his extraordinary memory and detective skills, and the assistance of a surprising ally, to root out a killer and the forces behind Cramer's death...before the boom town explodes.

I liked al the main characters together!

really unique story line. but I knew the location and enjoyed the intertwined plot. and I particularly enjoyed having Jessica Reel, Will Robie, Amos Decker, and Alex Jamisonin one book. hope there is another book with all of them again

enjoyed

Another great book in the Amos Decker series. I enjoyed the story - a little farfetched at least one the mysteries. I liked his brother in law helping and other characters from Mr. Baldacci's series.
Will and Jessica.

worth a read or in this case a listen

He is a great author

But this book was not that great. I’ve read or listened to the whole series so far, and loved them. This one though seemed a little off. I will continue the series though

Good- not great.

Story line became difficult to put together. Everything else was very good. At the end I was left with the thinking that there will be more types of these mixed stories.

Never a disappointment.

Baldacci's stories along with these two narrators, makes any of his audio books a gut rentching, can't take my attention away from the book until it's done experience.

Good book, I enjoyed it

Purchased the book while on vacation. It was a good choice. Listened while diving my son thought it was an interesting story
and how the storytellers changed their voices to make it seem like different people we in the story.

more twist than a candy cane

what's not to like and there's a surprise visit from some old friends just to make it that much more interesting. I rather enjoy Wendy's authors mix and match their characters now to find out the rest of the story I guess you'll have to read it, I don't think you'll be disappointed

Good but not best

I am a big Fan of his. But think this wasn’t the best of his story’s. I did like the fact that they intermingled 2 big plots and especially bringing Will Robie which is my favorite Baldacci character of all. I love the narrators as it makes it more interesting and come to life. Should be noted this story has a lot more gruesome details right up front which is not the norm for David’s books but they are always a good listen too.
