About this listen

For the path to happiness is littered with ex-boyfriends, confusing career choices, and lingering insecurities for an ambitious young woman in this touching, romantic debut.

Meet Jules Sinclair, a spirited thirty-something PR maven on the precipice of success. She has supportive friends, a loving mom and dad, a great job, and the perfect boyfriend, a dancer and model named Tony - until he breaks her heart. The bitter breakup throws Jules into a whirlwind of emotions and broken dreams, and she decides to open a new chapter in her life. Jules returns to New York City to interview for her dream job with the head of the PR division at Carly's, a ritzy supper club. It's owned by former model Micheal Kipps, who takes Jules under his wing. But when a shareholder sets his sights on investing in Carly's, his plans also include a bid for Jules' heart. As she deals with heartbreak, dating, loneliness, and the struggle to choose between love and her career, Jules realizes that her new life and new love could all come to an end if she continues to allow the past, and her allegiance to another man, dictate her heart. Filled with tender moments and strong, relatable characters, Waiting for Jules is a beautifully told story about the necessity of mending the past while on the road to finding true love and happiness.

Long, drawn out and unnecessary

I thought the story itself was good but I felt like the author took a long time to get to the point and some of the chapters felt like "fluff." I found myself losing interest at various points of the story and it wasn't until the final 4 or 5 chapters that I found myself riveted until the end.

Other than that, my biggest issue was with the narrator. This is may seem like a petty point to make but the main character, Jules, is a woman in her early 30's and I felt like the narrator sounded like an older woman which made it hard for me to picture the character. In addition, her faux English accent was distracting because she'd go in and out of the accent while speaking as Jules and I found myself more irritated than anything. If there's an abridged version I'd recommend that.

the more i listened to the story the more i disliked Juels and the narrator continued to change accents with her which got very annoying.

Major disappointment

Would you try another book from Tamara N. Houston and/or Patricia R. Floyd?

Maybe by the author, narrator probably not.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Phone Calls From Heaven

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Patricia R. Floyd?

No!

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment

Any additional comments?

Story was waaaaaaay too long and there were too many characters to keep up with. No connections were made. Characters seem unrealistic. Ending was too confusing. Story was not cohesive it was all over the place. Not exactly sure what the book was about! Author seems a little inexperienced but would give her another chance. The narrator sounded too old for this part. Would not really recommend but to each his own!

Couldn’t get passed chapter 3

I’m not a fan of the entire book being told by the main character, I’d rather have a storyline that’s played out and thought provoking. A book has to grab you in the beginning and I didn’t want to follow the storyline into the 3rd chapter
