I started this plague with packing up my car to drive across the country. All I wanted those bloody, violent months ago was to visit my sister.
But that was the day the plague changed everything—a rabies variant sweeping throughout the world, devouring all in its path.
I was fast to learn that sticking to myself in this new world was the best way to survive—
That is, until I was stuck down an alleyway in the city, holding my dog Cleo to my chest, and releasing that final scream I would ever take as the infected closed in on me.
He saved me.
Leo.
Leo, the ex-merc, ex-military, whatever his past was, he was shadowed in secrets and blood.
And so I became part of a group. Just for a while, I told myself. Just until I get my strength back, find a working car, can pack it up with supplies…
Then Leo’s deadly grip on my heart gripped just that bit tighter—
I knew then, I was a goner.
