About this listen

Jewell Parker Rhodes follows up her acclaimed Voodoo Dreams with a present-day mystery surrounding the gifts of an ancestor of the Voodoo Queen. Doctor Marie Levant can't explain why she's drawn to New Orleans, or why it's comforting and unsettling at the same time. And she can't shake her haunting dreams. But when she delivers a dead woman's baby, Marie knows malevolent forces are at work, and it's up to her to stop them.©2004 Jewell Parker Rhodes (P)2006 Recorded Books African American Fiction Literary Fiction Occult Paranormal Women's Fiction Scary Fantasy Witchcraft New Orleans Royalty

Took me home

I loved this book from beginning to end. I couldn’t stop listening. My family is originally from New Orleans my grandparents moved north during the great migration. I was drawn to New Orleans my entire life and when I finally made it there I took a deep breath and knew I was home. Thank you for writing this book, showing that we are magic, it’s in our blood, we just have to be open to receive it

cute story

I liked the suspense, the story teller kept me on the edge of my seat. Listeners will have a hard time understanding the story if they don't have knowledge of the Orisha's and the practice of Voudon... Santeria, Lucumi, Candomble, obeah, Ifa.

Culture of VOODOO

I love the story line and how the narrator brought the words to life. You have to be open to what voodoo is to understand. Such a great listen , I will be buying the hard copy!
