About this listen

Violence of Action is much more than the true, first-person accounts of the 75th Ranger Regiment in the Global War on Terror. Within this audio are the heartfelt, firsthand accounts from and about the men who lived, fought, and died for their country, their regiment, and each other. Objective Rhino, Haditha Dam, recovering Jessica Lynch, the hunt for Zarqawi, the recovery of Extortion 17, and everything in between... These stories have been told many times in barracks rooms, at bar tables, and at backyard barbecues, but they have never before been shared with the general public. It is time for those stories to be heard.

So much more than just stories from a specific unit, this audiobook reveals the sights, smells, and emotions of everything that happens in war - good or bad. It will be seen as the quintessential, ageless work on the human condition in combat.

A little annoying as the narrator pronounces Military terms with slightly odd inflections but the stories are phenomenal.

Worth it.

Overall this book was fantastic and I really enjoyed it. My only criticism is that the chapter narrator and the female narrator voices were slightly irritating to me in the way that radio personalities are irritating. The majority of the narrating is very good though since the other two narrators did not have as big of a role in this book. The main criticism I have is in regards to one of the final chapters where the female narrator tells an overly religious story where every other word was either God or Gigi Jesus or some other religious figures name and quoting Psalms. It was just a bit over-the-top and I felt like it didn't really fit in the book. If it was toned down a little bit it would've been easier to digest but I found it too distracting and irritating and I ended up fast forwarding to the end of that chapter.

Excellent story but could do without the heavy religious referencing towards the end of the book

Great book with more than just war stories. The book also gives viewpoints from families and relatives of Veterans.

Great read

Personally I'm glad this book was written to help preserve the tales of the soldiers that were there. it was great that some of the tales were interlocked but from different perspectives. a good read for anyone interested in the Ranger Regiment.

excellent view of the Ranger Life.

Hands down the most well read book I have listened to yet. We should all take note of the selfless sacrifices our soldiers make for our freedoms and never take them for granted.

Amazing book about true heroes!

Although I am not a Regiment veteran, I have spent a considerable amount of time of my career in the SOF community. This book helped to feel a connection again. It wouldn't be a stretch to say I laughed and cried to this book. Thank you for this opportunity to feel those feels.

Excellently written in dynamic and visceral prose, From one who was there, this is what it was like. Not yet finished - I look forward to the sequel to conclude (?) our Iraq/Afghanistan venture…

A Moving Tribute to Those Happy Few

This book is a very enjoyable listen. It is basically war stories from several different rangers. Narration is on point. All in all one of my favorite “war story” books I’ve listened/read. Rangers did some serious work during the gwot and these are some of the missions.
