About this listen

Cattlemen ride alone across the open range under the deadly aim of roving desperadoes.... Gamblers stake their fortunes and their lives on a deck of cards.... Strong-willed señoritas seek independence through an enticing combination of beauty, audacity, and spirit.... Lawmen and outlaws walk the same dusty streets and speak a common language: Colt, Winchester, Smith & Wesson.

Gritty, tough, and unflinchingly authentic, here is the West as it really was: a land where for every friend there is an enemy, for every handshake a fist, for every dispute a resolution - usually in an explosive showdown of blood and bullets. In these remarkable tales, Louis L’Amour - like the very heroes he depicts - blazes a trail across the American frontier and takes us on an unforgettable journey into the heart of our western heritage.

Classic Louis

His stories are still the BEST. You just can't beat his knowledge of history and if the area where the story takes place.

Pretty good dramatization

Any additional comments?

Not really very exciting..the dramatization was OK but don't think I would go for another book of this type..I think I would rather ..just read it..L'Amour is much better in that department

The Story is Good

This was a good story, however, the sound effects upstaged the reader.

I love dramatized audiobooks. This is the first one I've listened to where the sound effects were more prominent, and as a result, upstaged the reader. My habit is to listen while I'm working. It was challenging to engage with the story. This particular artists either needs to speak more directly into the mic or when the sound effects are added in post, the editor must take care that the speaker/narrator is not dwarfed by any ancillary sounds.
