Publisher's summary

From the editor in chief of Variety and author of the New York Times bestseller Ladies Who Punch, the never-fully-told, behind-the-scenes story of Donald Trump and The Apprentice, the long-running reality series that catapulted him to the White House.

Here for the first time is the definitive untold story of Donald Trump’s years as a reality TV star. Trump himself admits he might not have been president without The Apprentice. Now, just as he uncovered the chaos inside the daytime favorite The View in his bestselling Ladies Who Punch, Ramin Setoodeh chronicles Trump’s dramatic tenure as New York’s ultimate boss in the boardroom, a mirage created by Survivor producer Mark Burnett and NBC boss Jeff Zucker. With unprecedented access, including hours of interviews with Trump, his boardroom advisers George Ross and Carolyn Kepcher, Eric Trump, and some of the most memorable contestants, and writing with flair and authority, Setoodeh shares all the untold tales from this legendary show that has left its mark on popular culture, shaped the legend of its star, and ultimately changed American history.

Did anyone edit this audio book?

Excellent and engaging story but … Trump battled with NY’s mayor, Ed Koch (pronounced Coke) ??
Which, ok, it reads that way so cut the guy a break.

But Covid MORALITY rates? Morality? Covid’s morals?

Barely halfway through chapter one and these two things leap at the listener. Which begs the question, did anyone from the publishing company listen to this?

In any case, Kudos to the author. Riveting account. Excellent reporting with plenty of context.

I liked the simulated voice of the subject. Liked the breakdown of subject matter as stated in chapter titles.

Continued insight

I was curious about Trump’s Apprentice days. I never watched the show, I had no interest in it whatsoever and that was long before I knew who Trump was. All I remember is commercials gave me the impression it was mean spirited. But then I find most reality based shows have an undertone of meanness. Certainly that suited Trump. It was interesting to hear how attached he was/is to it. Too bad it lasted so long because we can certainly blame much of the development of his fake persona on the followers who put him in the White House because they embraced the fake. This was an interesting read. Substantiated my opinion of felon Trump.

The Nation’s Worst Marketing Mishap Explained

I appreciate how this book lays out how Americans have been used by a man obsessed with his building his own fame and name. The only thing Trump is an expert at - using others to prop himself up.

Trump will always be Trump, always in Decline

Interesting twist and insight. Liked the humorous presentation. Depiction of Trump's fixation on The Apprentice and running the Presidency in the same vein, priceless.

It would be horrible if Trump is reelected!

It is a very honest depiction of Donald Trump. It's very sad that anyone can still support him!
