About this listen
Discipleship is costly. Are we willing to critique and even challenge much we've been taught for the sake of the kingdom? For this is the radical nature of the discipleship to which Jesus calls us. He did not allow the outside culture to hold him captive; instead, he established the kingdom of God and turned the world on its head. Jesus was untamed, and he calls his church to be the same.
In this provocative and compelling book, internationally known missiologists Alan and Debra Hirsch overthrow culturized understandings of theology and culture, and cast a vision for a distinctly mission-shaped way of living the Christian life.
Written for any Christian serious about the issue of discipleship, Untamed covers such topics as church, humans as bearers of the image of God, family life, culture, and sexuality. Through it all, they seek to answer the question, "How are we to think and live day to day as followers of Jesus?" Each chapter ends with suggested practices to help readers begin to live out the book's principles, as well as questions for group discussion.

Story
In the burgeoning missional church movement, churches are seeking to become less focused on programs for members and more oriented toward outreach to people who are not already in church. This fundamental shift in what a congregation is and does and thinks is challenging for leaders and congregants. Using the metaphor of map-making, the book explains the perspective and skills needed to lead congregations and denominations in a time of radical change over unfamiliar terrain as churches change their focus from internal to external.

Story
Few subjects are as compelling-or as endlessly variable-as love and marriage. The Bible is filled with references to husbands and wives, from the story of Adam and Eve to advice in the New Testament, each open to interpretation. In The Meaning of Marriage, Timothy Keller, pastor of New York's Redeemer Presbyterian Church and bestselling author of The Reason for God, uses the scriptures as his guide to show readers what God's call to marriage is, and why this is such a powerful call.

Informative, Engauging and well worth reading
This book was greatly encouraging. It re-confirmed the check in my spirit that’s something is wrong with the contemporary Church. It reignited a passion within me that I had not felt since I first became a Gospel believer. Also, this book confirmed the biblical account of the first century Church as recorded in the Bible.

Uncomfortable Reality
I needed this important book. Though theologically conservative, I am edgy in Missional practice...at least I thought I was before this book. You will not agree with all that this book says, but when that happens, ask why. Your answers might surprise you. Regardless, this is a must read.

Interesting views...
It's interesting how extraordinarily different Christian books are across the spectrum. In many ways this book is traditionally sound, while on the other end it is edgy, woke, and seems like it may be perspectively woke. While I completely think that the author's means completely sincere – it does come in complete contrast to many others in ways that can't nessisarily even be rebuked.
I believe that the authors have a heart for GOD and for people. I'm also very glad that they're reaching communities that are more difficult to reach. There are things that are easily applauded and things that are uneasy in this book alike. I found it interesting.

Love the book
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would absolutely recommend this book. I would recommend the audiobook to those who want to read but have too much travel time in their lives.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Untamed?
The most memorable moments were the discussions on God and orgasms.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
The narration was a bit deliberately 'deep and thoughtful' and occasionally dragged down the heart of the book into a monotonous plod. Someone who walked in while I was listening commented that it sounded like a brainwashing session.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I did not listen to this in one sitting, as the book is over 8 hours long, but I turned it on during commute times, and laundry-folding and distribution times.
Any additional comments?
The narrator consistently and distressingly mispronounced 'nuclear'.

The 4th Reading Time Feels As Fresh As The 1st
This is my fourth reading of this book, and it feels like it’s the first time. It is been very helpful to focus on Jesus as the one who designs our discipleship.
