About this listen

Unsolved Serial Killings by R. J. Parker is a fascinating glimpse into the mindsets of cold-blooded serial killers. Complete with F.B.I. stats, profile classifications, and psychotic windows to peer into, this book is about the most horrific of criminals. There are some great examples of unsolved murders that leave the listener wondering, did the killer, stop killing, die, or go to prison on unrelated charges? A spellbinding new audiobook from an author with investigator in his blood!

If you enjoy true crime and especially listening to tales of unsolved serial killings, this is the book for you. It's hard to believe that, at any given time in the United States alone, there are 30 to 50 unidentified active serial killers at work, constantly changing their targets and methods. Some authorities think that number is even much higher.

Unsolved Serial Killings, a number-one best seller, is a compilation of over 20 criminal dossiers on serial killers who were never caught, including

  • The Zodiac Serial Killer,
  • The Frankford Slasher,
  • The Original Night Stalker,
  • The Rapid City Serial Killer,
  • The Babysitter Serial Killer,
  • The Highway of Tears Serial Killer,
  • The I-70/I-35 Texas Serial Killer,
  • And many more.

R. J. Parker is the author of six serial killer books as well as Top Cases of The FBI. His Serial Killer Files Series include Women Who Kill, Unsolved Serial Killings, Case Closed: Serial Killers Captured, The Serial Killer Compendium, Doctors Who Killed, and No Killing in The Hallways (Shoot Shootings).

Poor

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I read many many adio books. This reader was very poor. Sounded flat and very slow like she was reading a newspàper outloud. Trying stringout length. Book poorly written. Just reading list. Really not very good

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

More inflection in voice More substance not just list of crimes

How could the performance have been better?

Another reader

Snorefest + Horrible Narrator

What disappointed you about Unsolved Serial Killings?

The narrator sounds like she just came out of a coma and is just learning to read again. The entire book is the author repeating that unsolved serial killers have either gotten incarcerated for another crime, moved, or just stopped killing. If you just read the previous sentence, just read it again to yourself in a old lady comatose voice and you can save yourself 5 bucks.

See Spot Run. Run Spot Run!

Is there a way to give this book a negative number of stars?

This should have been titled "Serial Killers For Dummies"
If you like reading the dictionary and have never heard of serial killers in your entire life - this is the book for you...but you could still be bored to tears.

For the rest of us - move along, nothing to see here.

Fascinating, yet Horrifying

Would you consider the audio edition of Unsolved Serial Killings to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version. Mr. Parker has put together an informative collection of cases in this book, delivering solid facts and taking us on a walk through the dark side of the serial killer's mind. The serial killers in this book range from some of the most well known to some of the lesser known, with details on each case that will fascinate and horrify readers.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely

Any additional comments?

The Narrator captivated my attention and in my opinion is one of the better narrators I've listened to so far.

A spellbinding decent into the mind of a killer

What made the experience of listening to Unsolved Serial Killings the most enjoyable?

The author put in so much detail and painted one drastic scenario after another!

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

Unsolved Serial Killings by R.J. Parker is a fascinating glimpse into the mindsets of cold blooded serial killers. Complete with F.B.I stats, profile classifications and psychotic windows to peer into, this book is about the most horrific of criminals.

What does Beth MacEwan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The narrator, who's voice is engaging, often altered her voice tone when capturing the more dramatic scenes to emphasize the importance which holds the listeners attention. Very good narrating

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book certainly opened my eyes to the reality that there are a lot of unsolved killings in just the US alone

Awful.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

To be a 4 or 5 it would have had a competent reader. I suspect that they slow reading is meant to draw out the lack of information in the book.

Has Unsolved Serial Killings turned you off from other books in this genre?

It certainly has turned me from this author.

Would you be willing to try another one of Beth MacEwan’s performances?

No.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Unsolved Serial Killings?

It needed more information not less.

Any additional comments?

I think Audible should withdraw the title and refund people's money. It just is not up to Audible's standards.
