About this listen

Iris Adams can't dance.

She can act. She can hike the Appalachian Trail. She can resist every carb known to womankind. She can make people laugh.

But she has no moves. Not even one.

Her lack of rhythm has never been an issue until she gets the chance to take her TV show to the big screen. The movie is sure to make her a household name - if she can just nail the Cajun dance scene.

Beau Landry is a minimalist. He doesn't even own a TV.

A South Louisiana native, Beau's mission in life is to preserve his Cajun culture. The full-time French teacher and part-time dance instructor is only working with this Hollywood head case to help out his uncle.

It's not because she's beautiful even when she's embarrassing herself. It's not because she's as funny as she is kind. And it's definitely not because she just might need him as much as he needs her.

A touching, layered romance

This story is one that checked all my boxes. I easily fell in love with the characters and related to their story as individuals, in ways didn’t know I needed to. Some of the themes hit hard but that’s what makes this great in my opinion. This is definitely one of the few listens that made me feel compelled to get a physical copy because the story just sticks with you. Aiden Snow ( I have a newfound interest in french prompted by your genius) the narrator you are!!! As the other reviews note the female voice actor has a jarring tone that personally I could only ignore when listening at 1.5 or higher but it’s WORTH IT.

Male narrator makes the listen worth while.

Sweet and fun storyline, but the female narrator was painfully A.I. sounding. I heard moments of potential and think perhaps she’s new at narration and just needs time and experience.

Good story, poor narration

The story is pretty decent, a bit more original than I expected. But the narration drove me crazy! Ok, I’m not sure why exactly, perhaps it was too sharp or maybe too much a dialect.? It just kept me on edge and I hurried through the story.

Two Step

Male voice is strong and easy to listen to. Female voice sounds AI and most monitone. Story over all is enjoyable

Story was okay

Sorry was okay, male narrator was amazing as always, but the female narrator ruined the story for me. She sounds very AI. I had to double check and make sure it wasn’t. I don’t like being negative so I’m going to look at this as constructive criticism, she could be really good with more practice.

Cute story

Narrators’ reading was very robotic and unemotional. I had trouble connecting to the story because of the cadence.

Poor Performance

I wish I would have read others reviews. The female narration is HARD to get through. Very mechanical and unfeeling, which is interesting since the character is supposed to be a polished actress. The male narration is fabulous. Pretty good storyline if you can make it through the narration. Would have been a better book if I'd read myself but that defeats the whole "Audible" purpose. Will watch for future books with this female narrating and be sure to pass!!!

Great story. Awful female narrator.

I've never reviewed a narrator's voice as being poor. But, if I didn't know better, I would swear that the female's voice was an AI creation. So robotic, it made this great story so rough to listen to at times.

I fell in love with the characters

I loved this book. I devoured it and never wanted it to end. Also Beau’s narration was incredible, I want to listen to the voice actor more.

A lot of romantic books just focus on the love story, but each of the characters really had their own journey to go through. Although those personal journeys were necessary for the love interests to be together- I felt like they were compelling enough that they could have stood alone. I just can’t get over this book and plan on listening to it again
