About this listen
For better...Laura Nelson has it all - a successful career as a surgeon, five well-adjusted kids and a gorgeous, prominent husband Steve, a nightly news anchor at the Tampa TV News.
For worse...Laura's seemingly perfect world shatters when she discovers that Steve is sharing much more than a news desk and a billboard with Kim, his sexy co-anchor. But Steve's torrid fling with his coworker is about to come to an abrupt end.
Till death do us part...When Kim is murdered, Laura is left holding the smoking gun. How far would Laura go to preserve her perfect life? That's about to become yesterday's news. Now, Laura must fight to protect her freedom as lies, deception and dark secrets threaten to close in on her and change her perfect life into a perfect nightmare. But, looks can be deceiving. And deceit can be deadly.
Sexy, alluring, and provocative, Twisted Justice delivers fiery hot action, pulse-pounding suspense and a razor-sharp plot full of dangerous curves.

On Wednesdays, she has lunch with her fellow Shorehaven freelancers at a so-so French restaurant, where she senses that something's off. Pete Delaney, a milquetoast package designer, always shows up early, sits in the same spot (often with a different phone in hand), and keeps one eye on the Jeep he parks in the lot across the street. Corie intuitively feels that Pete is hiding something....

Story
Alan Gregory is a clinical psychologist with a thriving practice in Boulder, Colorado. His life begins to unravel when one of his female patients is found in an apparent suicide and the local paper begins printing accusations from an unnamed source of sexual impropriety between the woman and Dr. Gregory. He launches a psychological and personal quest for the truth that rapidly intensifies when more of his patients die untimely deaths, and Gregory suspects not only that the deaths are related but that another one of his patients may be somehow involved. Lacking facts but roused by suspicion and troubled by seemingly random acts of terror around him, Gregory starts to fear for the safety of the people he loves. The question of the inviolability of confidential disclosures made to Gregory by his patients - privileged information - becomes crucial as the psychologist pursues an unsettling romance with Lauren Crowder, a lovely deputy district attorney investigating one of the deaths. Bound to silence, Gregory follows the psychological tracks of someone he fears may be a cunning and disturbed killer, while turning to his enigmatic but supportive partner, Diane Estevez, for counsel, and to his tart-tongued female urologist neighbor for support. The sinister, surprising drama unfolds against Boulder's Rocky Mountain backdrop, in the arresting natural beauty of Aspen, and in the midst of a baroque Halloween costume party in downtown Boulder. Finally, in a lonely mountain lodge enshrouded in menace, the story comes to its breathtaking climax.

Mattie's best friend, Izzy, offers her a place to stay and suggests she'd be a natural as deputy coroner. Now, instead of taking patients' pulses, Mattie's weighing their hearts and livers. But Mattie's first homicide call turns out to be for none other than Nurse Karen, and even though she saw her ex in a heated argument with the newly deceased the night before, she refuses to believe David could be a killer.

I'm no quitter, but my ears were bleeding!
Wow, story not bad (I think) but can't be sure because of the frequent first aid to my bleeding ears interrupting the storyline -- all due to the HORRIFIC narration. Please, no more!!!! She makes all male characters sound like whiny 5-year olds. And makes a competent female surgeon sound more like a blonde bimbo.

Horrible narration
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
The story line itself was a decent listen-in-the-car story. The narration was truly awful--jerky, not "acted" at all--it sounded like it was being read by someone not used to reading for others.
If you’ve listened to books by Patricia Gussin before, how does this one compare?
