About this listen

Following the success of his New York Times best seller, Until Tuesday, Iraq War veteran Luis Carlos Montalván takes to the road with his beloved golden retriever service dog, Tuesday, advocating for America's wounded warriors and for each other.

Luis' first book sparked a national conversation about service dogs and PTSD. In this spectacular new memoir, he and Tuesday bring their healing mission to the next level, showing how these beautifully trained animals can assist soldiers, veterans, and many others with disabilities. Rescuing a forgotten Tuskegee airman. Battling obstinate VA bureaucrats. Delivering solace to troubled war heroes and their families. Everywhere these two go, they highlight the miraculous talents of service dogs.

As Luis and Tuesday celebrate exhilarating victories, a grave obstacle threatens to derail their life-saving campaign. Though Luis has made great progress battling his own PTSD, his physical wounds risk leaving him wheelchair-bound. He must decide whether to amputate his leg and carry on with a bionic prosthesis. Even as he struggles with this dramatic decision, he and 10-year-old Tuesday prepare to welcome a female golden retriever puppy to their all-male pack.

As this stirring memoir neared publication, Luis Montalván took his own life in December 2016 - another terrible tragedy of the invisible wounds of war. This book is his last letter of love to his best friend, Tuesday, and to veterans, friends, and fellow dog lovers everywhere.

Never more timely than now, Tuesday's Promise is an inspiring story of love, service, teamwork, and the remarkable bond between humans and canines.

I just finished this book. I can't believe how it ends. This is not only a book about a Veteran but it is about a dog and thousands of other vets, as well. I feel like I was left hanging from a rope with my feet dangling. There is more to this story that must be told. Someone pick up this story and go with it. What about Tuesday? What about the thousands of other Vets with PTSD? Is anyone doing anything to help improve their quality of life.
I'm giving it a five star rating because it made me so mad!

What about Tuesday?

The book was very well written and performed. It really went a long way to help in my understanding PTSD and how valuable service dogs can be for vets or anyone suffering from this terrible condition. The unconditional love between Luis and Tuesday came through loud and clear! I recommend this book to anyone who loves dogs and/or wants a better understanding of PTSD.

Excellent book; insightful regarding PTSD

I hadn't known that Luis Carlos had killed himself until recently. It was such a shock But the co -author said has helped me understand. I had been in contact with him on social media for a couple of years. I had attended one of his conferences. I thought his first book was wonderful. His fight
to stay helpful to others was heroic. I know Tuesday misses him but he finally gets the chance to run and play and be with other dogs before he joins Carlos on the rainbow bridge.

Loved this book! But

An eye opener of PSTD of our veterans and how lives are affected. It certainly brought tears to my eyes.

I am not sure where to begin but I will begin with how much I sincerely enjoyed this book in every way. I have Luis and Tuesday's first book ,"Until Tuesday" and have read it at least 5 times along with the audiobook accompanying generously. I so enjoy being able to "listen while I walk, work, drive, garden and work on other chores~ I highly recommend both. I have given his first book as a gift to many people!

I had always hoped that at least every year or two years he would write a new one and share with us his and Tuesday's adventures.

"Tuesday Tucks Me In" is precious!

Now, we have "Tuesday's Promise" and I want more. I'm so sad.....but very grateful that I found his story.

What more could I possible say..

TUESDAY'S PROMISE

I had read the first book Until Tuesday, and was so excited to know there was this second book. Luis and Tuesday clearly demonstrate that life is lived through teamwork, whether it be with other humans or with furbabies. I have been around service dogs for many years, including my current involvement as a volunteer puppy sitter for Paws For Purple Hearts up here in San Francisco not far from Roenhert Park, the home of Bergin University. Tuesday was the common factor in all of Luis ' successes, and gave his entire being to whatever mission he had with his warrior. The narrator is very talented, and easy to listen to. I appreciated the Afterwords where the co-author, Kelly, gave some updates that made this book even more meaningful and important to me.

The Promise Lives On even Though..

Thank you for everything you have given your fans and allowing us to see through yours and Tuesday's eyes.

Rest in peace Luis.

I am devastated to hear about Luis! What a completely unexpected ending.

Thank you Luis for all your work to end the stigma that took your life. Thank you for sharing Tuesday with us.

Luis
You were an advocate for so many. As a cancer patient I fully understood some of the challenges your challenges - perhaps in different ways. The struggle to keep moving forward the most difficult.

My dog Chezzie is not a certified therapy dog but she is all the therapy dog I need.

Your leaving us left a profound vacuum in this world.

Thank you and Good Boy! Tuesday.
