About this listen

The first time Travis North lays eyes on Liana McDermott, she's wearing the most hideous bridesmaid dress he's ever seen. He doesn't immediately recognize the world-famous super model who is attending her cousin Enid's wedding at the country club he owns. Thanks to Enid's shameless matchmaking, Travis and Liana become acquainted and later embark on a two-week fling intended to be free of emotion and entanglement. As Liana's return to work gets closer, however, Travis wonders how he'll ever let her go when the time comes while Liana considers whether he might be her true north. Two high-powered careers, two amazing weeks and a love that comes along just once in a lifetime. Is she ready to give up her career for a different kind of life? Does he want the same things she does? After insisting on an emotionless affair, she can't very well ask him. Or can she?

Hang in there

I really struggled to get into this book, as the Alpha Male, pushed the woman a bit too much for me. she said no, he said you'll like it... it set my teeth on edge. Once I was able to get past those first few chapters, I was happy with the rest of the book. It ended the correct way.

A lovely story with so-so narration

This book popped up as an audible recommendation and wanting something new, I decided to try it. The story is sweet, though I agree with other reviewers that the real love story is with Beck and Jessie in the subplot. Still, the characters are believable and human (considering we're talking about millionaires and supermodels).

What didn't work for me as well is the narration. Holly Fielding has a great voice; I just don't think it's the right voice for sweet romance. Her tone carried a note of tragedy to it that squashed a lot of the happier, lighter moments. It wasn't bad; it just could have been better.

I enjoyed the book enough that I'd give Marie Force another try.

Great Love Story

I've listened to this story three times - it never gets boring! Great summer read - even in Florida;)

IDK what to say….

It’s hard to believe that this is the same Marie Force that wrote the Fatal and First Family series. I didn’t find the dialogue as engaging and the male leads (both) were big babies and would storm off when things didn’t go their way. Where is the Nick in this story? Ugh, nowhere!
The narrator’s voice is too sweet and monotone for the book. She sounded depressing.
If I hadn’t had to use a credit, it would’ve been okay (maybe as a Kindle read and listen), but I didn’t see that it was worth the credit - especially if you’re a Sam and Nick fan.

Not as good as the fatal series

This was just ok for me. Worth the credit but no rave review here. Narrator put me to sleep. She should not read romance. No emotion

It was cute love story!

Would you try another book from Marie Force and/or Holly Fielding?

Yes.

Would you recommend True North to your friends? Why or why not?

It was okay, very predictable. Liana drove me crazy. Loved Travis poor guy had to keep proving his love for Liana.

Have you listened to any of Holly Fielding’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, I love to listen to Holly.

Could you see True North being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Not really.

Ok story.. less than ok narration

I have mixed feelings about this story and the narrator.
Story: while it was sweet and the happily ever after was very satisfying I must say that there were actually too many sex scenes that didn't add anything to the story. It felt like sex was a filler of about half of the story. Also, this story includes two romances and both females are high profile top models (celebrities) that leave everything behind for men. Meanwhile the men don't sacrifice anything at all for them. I don't like that message. Two weeks of romance and love and women just fall at the feet of their men.

Narrator: While the Ms. Holly Fielding has a very nice voice and her male voices were excellent, she did a voice for the Heroine as groggy. It almost put me to sleep. I doubt any top model would have such a tired groggy voice. So every-time the heroine spoke it was flat and sleepy.

This is not Ms. Force's best work so you should try the Gansett Island series first and only get this title if you get it on a very good sale.

Okay story but poor narrator.

The story of famous models and pulled them up by the bootstrap guys. It would be an average read, except that the narrator is too monotone and will put you to sleep. I forced myself to listen to the entire book. The storyline starts out weak but gets better. However, the narration never improveds. Recommend you read the book rather than listen to this version.

I Did Not Like the Narrator

I just read reviews and agree with them on a couple of items.

1. I would rather have had two books with the two romances. I too agree that the Jesse and Beck story was a better one.

2. The narrator while has a nice voice isn't a good narrator. I had difficulties distinguishing who she was reading about, when she changed paragraphs. There was little or no inflection in her voice. I found myself pausing the story and restating out loud to myself what was said with the inflection it needed.

3. I would give the author another chance but NOT the narrator.

Loved the story...

I read the book years ago and was excited to find it on Audible. But I am disappointed in the narration. Ms. Fielding 's performance sounds lazy and unimaginative. She comes across as bored and really didn't do justice to this wonderful book.
