About this listen

Murder, terrorism, and mass killings were prominent in the news for 2018, and in this true crime anthology, you will find the cases that made international headlines from January to the end of December.

An entire year has been included in this audiobook, and as we go into 2019, it’s important to remember not only the shocking events that took place, but also to acknowledge the many that lost their lives at the hands of others this year.

The types of cases included are:

  • Serial killers
  • Family murders
  • Mass murders
  • School shootings
  • Major hacking incidents
  • Terrorist acts
  • Cold cases

There have been many advances in technology that has led to the uncovering on many suspects in cold cases, including the identity of the Golden State Killer, a secret that had remained hidden for decades. A number of cold case murders were solved this year, bringing an end to the torture the affected families and the investigators had endured for so many years.

Tragically, school shootings were still prevalent, and mass shootings seem to be on the rise. Terrorism struck many corners of the world, in a variety of ways, but results were swifter in identifying perpetrators and taking action.

Some of the featured events in this anthology include:

  • Marshall County High School shooting
  • The Turpin family
  • Larry Nassar and Harvey Weinstein
  • Coincheck hacking
  • Bruce McArthur - serial killer
  • Atlanta cyberattack
  • International spy poisonings
  • Scottsdale spree killings
  • Miles family murders
  • Murder of XXXTentacion
  • Pittsburgh synagogue massacre
  • Mail bombing

Plus many, many more. If you are a lover of true crime, and want an anthology to add to your collection, this is the audiobook for you.

Great collection of stories; excellent narration.

This true crime book is about as good as they get! The author has carefully selected some of the most impacting crime stories (homicides) from the past year, and has mixed it up into something of an art. The narrator also deserves some kudos for a clear and suspenseful narration. A great way to summarize some of the craziness we left behind.
Excellent work.

I got this book for free upon my request from the author. This review is just an expression of my thoughts on the book.

Thrilling and informative.

This is a riveting book. It is complete with details of major crime events, especially murder cases. This book has given me a clearer insight about the sometimes dangerous nature of people, along with the efficiency of our law enforcement agencies . The world is not all roses, and it is important to be aware of such details.
I am also impressed with the narration which is well paced and clear.

A good collection of crime stories.

Listening to this book, the gruesomely premeditated incidents of the past year, especially those which cost lives, are narrated. The listener's imagination gives context to the intricate details, as it is being discussed in a story-like manner.
This is a great way to stay updated about such past events, which can be the key to being safe, or taking a voting stance on such matters, and similar ones. It also gives details on the actions of relevant law enforcement agencies in response to each crime. The effectiveness of their approach can then be evaluated from the listeners perspective. To a large extent, the improvement in technology has also been instrumental to the advancements in security too, and this can be considered from the stories compiled in this book.
Overall, I found this book informative, engaging and thrilling.

Summarizes the Worst Crimes in 2018

I've enjoyed true crime stories for many years. Jack Rosewood is a name I look for for quality retelling of some of the worst crimes committed. This book has summaries of the worst crimes in 2018 from around the world. There's not a lot of detail but enough to let you know what happened. In only 10 hours, Mr Rosewood covers many crimes so an in-depth telling is not possible. I still enjoyed listening to the overviews. Just know that the stories in this book are not in-depth tales but the top details only. The narration by Kevin Kollins is well done. He has a clean and clear voice and he reads at a nice pace. Overall, if you enjoy true crime stories then you'll most likely enjoy this one. Check it out.

Quick Synopsis of some of the top crimes in 2018

This book was interesting but it wasn't exactly what I was expecting. This doesn't really get in depth on any of the crime stories it is more of a brief synopsis of each crime and then on to the next. It is a good refresher of the year in crime and there were a couple of the stories I wasn't familiar with at all.

The narration was pretty well done by Kevin Kollins, I would of liked more of a pause/break between each story, it sometimes took me a second to realize that we had moved on to another one.

Very brief summaries

Events are organized by month with a very brief description of each case more or less chronologically and a listing of acts of terrorism at the end of each chapter. There is very little detail included for each case.

Kevin Kollins' narration is competent and professional.

Great recap of 2018

I enjoyed listening to all of the crime stories that took place in 2018. I love how they begin in January and work through the year. I liked how it included major and minor news stories in addition to terror reports for each month. I received this book for free for an honest review.

Edge of your seat reading!

First I have to start off by saying that this book was given to me free of charge for a review of the audiobook, but as always, this does not change my opinion and will not determine how I review the book or the rating that I give it.

Let me start off by saying that crime books are my favorite, but True Crime is even better.

The storyline is great, the narrator was perfect for this. All around a great job.
