Excellent Guide For Us Fledgling Owner Operators

While there's plenty of information shared to help the fledgling o/o avoid critical pitfalls, the most notable sections, for me, were SAFETY and COMPLIANCE.

I will have to read the specific part of the FMCSR addressing a safety manager's qualifications and see if there's regulated qualifications for a compliance officer.

Nevertheless, the "Continuing Driver Education and Proficiency" (CDEP) program I envisioned setting up will be best managed by a safety manager, hence the need for a current or former driver of impeccable and extensive knowledge and driving experience. A former cop and even a former DOT inspector may not have actual tractor-trailer operating experience, despite their safety inspection training, to fulfill the qualifications I'll want to develop and implement a CDEP. (I was leaning that way.)

Again, there's much information shared; I'll have to listen to it several times to begin to take it all in. A very nice resource for the uninitiated o/o seeking financial independence tempered by solid insights to avoid the monumental inherent risks associated with our chosen profession.

Don't waste your time.

Don't waste your time with this book. Nothing here that's really going to help you. I listened to this audio book a few years ago before I got my authority and stated my trucking company. I am going into my 3rd year as an O/O,, you can make it too. There are so many other and better sources.

Nothing you can’t find in five minutes on Google

I think this book lacked a lot of detail nothing more than just general information can be found on Google as a list of bullet points.

Outdated and Misinformed

I can't even finish this outdated book. while some of the information is true, the content sounds like it was written in the 90's. How someone could start and operate a successful business by following the information contained within is beyond me.
