About this listen

In a stunning follow-up to her number one best seller Slander, leading conservative pundit Ann Coulter contends that liberals have been wrong on every foreign policy issue, from the fight against Communism at home and abroad, the Nixon and the Clinton presidencies, and the struggle with the Soviet empire right up to today's war on terrorism. "Liberals have a preternatural gift for always striking a position on the side of treason," says Coulter. "Everyone says liberals love America, too. No, they don't." From Truman to Kennedy to Carter to Clinton, "America has contained, appeased, and retreated, often sacrificing America's best interests and security. With the fate of the world in the balance, liberals should leave the defense of the nation to conservatives."

Reexamining the 60-year history of the Cold War and beyond - including the career of Senator Joseph McCarthy, the Whittaker Chambers-Alger Hiss affair, Ronald Reagan's challenge to Mikhail Gorbachev to "tear down this wall", the Gulf War, and our present war on terrorism - Coulter reveals how liberals have been horribly wrong in all their political analyses and policy prescriptions. She also examines how history, especially in the latter half of the twentieth century, has been written by liberals and, therefore, distorted by their perspective. Far from being irrelevant today, her clearheaded and piercing view of what we've been through informs us perfectly for challenges today and in the future.

With Slander, Ann Coulter became the most recognized and talked-about conservative intellectual of the year. Treason, in many ways an even more controversial and prescient book, will ignite impassioned political debate at one of the most crucial moments in our history.

Well researched and documented statement

As others have pointed out, calling the Author a liar because you don't agree doesn't change facts. You may think you know the story, but until you've done the checking yourself, don't make assumptions that you or the Author is right. At least be open minded enough to look at a differing view. You may be surprised.
That being said, this is a pretty clear expose of how things have been consistantly warped to portray a liberal view of history. Another reviewer claimed that this is revisionist history. Perhaps, because it's revising things back to the truth. Hopefully this will challenge readers to do a bit of investigation on their own and not believe what they already "know" or what they read.
The truth is out there, use your brain.

Classic Coulter

The Lib's will hate it. They can't handle the truth. One of the best books you'll ever read. Truth by any other name is still the TRUTH. Well documented. Nice to know that there are still people able and willing to tell the truth, even about history.

Excellent Book

I doubt the negative reviews below have even ready it; just a knee jerk reaction from partisans. Go ahead and take a chance on it...it is not a perfect book but it is well written, informative and entertaining.

Liberals running scared

Coulter does a great job laying out the FACTS (not rumors, lies, and inuendo like that other so called "History" book by another infamous female author)to build a convincing picture of how the left has continuously worked to thawrt the best interests of our country. It makes you proud to be an American. Despite a half century of the best efforts of mainstream media to twist, distort, and defend the undermining acts of the democrats the truth will not die and cannot be covered up. This book will open your eyes to the real agenda of the left - and its not pretty.

Wonderful! Great for Today's reader.

A great story of how liberals are destroying history. Most importantly, she also does a wonderful job of putting the history in contempory terms so that a person born after Kennedy was shot can appreciate severity of the liberal's treason!

I REALLY listened...

Well-written, thought-provoking and funny, this was one of my favorite non-fiction books of all time. Incidentally, the liberals who reviewed this book are transparently deceptive. Does anyone really believe they actually read it?? They might fool another liberal, whose definition of truth is somewhat...elastic, shall we say?

Hmmm, let me think....

Which would I believe more, an argument based on actual transcripts (we all know those nasty transcriptionists lie about everything) from actual senate and/or house hearings, or news clippings and movies starring Robert De Niro, which we KNOW always tell the truth? What do you think? Now remember, I said THINK not FEEL. It's hard to realize that all you've heard throughout the years has been lies, but once you do, aaahhh what bliss! If you're going to argue that what's written is untrue, at least provide a little bit of factual material to support your claim, or just shut up!

Treason

A refreshing 20th century account of US history from a conservative's perspective. I enjoyed the author (Coultier) being the narrator.

Well Documented; Scholarly, Yet Entertaining.

Would you listen to Treason again? Why?

I AM listening to it again. The first time was on CD years ago; now on Audible.

Any additional comments?

The story of the Alger Hiss affair, near the end, is so entertaining. Colter unfolds Hiss' spy trial in delightful fashion, as the press digs ever deeper holes for itself, only to be smote down by events as the trial reached its conclusion. My CDs of the book long lost, I bought the Audible version just to listen to this part again.

Good reading.

I do like Ann Coulter's writing, and won't apologize for enjoying this book as much as I liked "Slander". I thoroughly enjoyed the presentation and the material. I don't understand why Ann's book is vitriol, but a book about lies from a liberal is political satire. Too bad it's abridged.
