Good Advice for the Future

Top Ten Things You Need to Know by Age 30 was absolutely correct. Some of the things this audiobook mentions are literally must do's in planning one's future. It's basic things but who han't said they wish they knew then what they know now. Know it now and apply it. I liked the way the author said to step out of your comfort zone. And in my own words do this before you fall into a comfort zone. Good advice.

Andre White Jr. did a pretty good job narrating. He spoke clearly and was easy to understand but the volume went up and down a few times.

Things to do or start in your 20's.

This is a nice concise list of things that everyone in their twenties should seriously incorporate into their lives. It's a rare thing for one in their thirties or forties to look back on the choices they made in their twenties and be able to honestly say they thought they had been wise. If one were to follow this list they could look back with pride and do just that!

Spot on

This was a comprehensive list of 10 things people should focus on in their 20s in order to make the most of them and improve the rest of their lives. I thought the advice, especially regarding finances, was spot on. It is general advice, but easy to adjust to individual listeners.

If I could go back and offer my 20 year old self one piece of advice, it would be to worry less about what people thought about me. I'd tell my overly self-conscious self that no one is paying nearly as much attention to me as I thought they were!

The narration was clear and easy to understand. I requested a copy of the audiobook and I'm voluntarily leaving a review.

At 32 this was a bit humbling

I'll admit I'm a little late to the party here being 32 haha. But nonetheless, I was happy to read this and learn some new things that I had never thought about. Needless to say I definitely recommend this to others!

Short but Informative

This was a short listen but there were greats points within this. I have listened to a couple of these books before and sometimes they tend to get mixed with one another.

There were a couple of great points within this book that I have not heard of yet and some that are in everyone book that deals with getting your life in order before 30.

The one thing that has not been mentioned in previous books is about traveling. Everyone tells you that traveling when you do not have many commitments is a plus but with this book it address all the fears and the hesitations that goes in with making these big decisions.

There is a big difference from doing and actually making it happen and this books lets you know they understand what it means to doing what you want but not going crazy when you do it.

I enjoyed the narrator. He has a pleasant voice and I did not feel as though I was being talked at but someone who is having a conversation with me.

The first two could change the trajectory of your life.

Q. Who actually takes advice in their twenties?
A. You can!

Start today and take initiative over the course of your life. Thane a long view. Live in light of eternity. Make plans, don’t drift!

This can give you some good perspective. Some of the points are a little off base. Who needs to be told that their parents don’t know what is best, and that the times are changing? This seems to depend on a perspective that we are getting better and better and that now we have a better grasp on reality than our parents did when they were our age. I think this is a dubious perspective. But there are some good points in here.

practical advice

There were many things in this little guide that I certainly wish I had been advised of much earlier in life.

The top two for me are "always have a side hustle" and "your parents don't have all the answers."

The best piece of advice I would give a younger version of myself (or anyone who was raised like I was) is: It is not your responsibility to please everyone else."  Perhaps I should dive into that one in a future blog post...
