Acerca de esta escucha

As secularism gains influence and increasing numbers see religion as dull and backward, Robert Barron wants to illuminate how beautiful, intelligent, and relevant the Catholic faith is.

In this compelling new book - drawn from conversations with and narrated by award-winning Vatican journalist John L. Allen Jr. - Barron, founder of Word on Fire Catholic Ministries, proclaims in vivid language the goodness and truth of the Catholic tradition. Through Barron's smart, practical, artistic, and theological observations - as well as through personal anecdotes about everything from engaging atheists on YouTube to his days as a young die-hard baseball fan from Chicago - To Light a Fire on the Earth covers prodigious ground.

Touching on a wide range of subjects, including Jesus, prayer, science, movies, atheism, the spiritual life, the fate of the Church in modern times, beauty, art, and social media, Barron reveals why the Church matters today and how Catholics can intelligently engage a skeptical world.

I recently came into the church this last April. I can tell you that I never heard of Bishop Barron until couple weeks ago and started watching his YouTube videos and just reading the books recommended. let me tell you we are blessed to have a father like him.

Excellent piece of work that allows the reader to get into the mind of one of the most influential Catholic leaders. Bishop Baron takes an honest look at the state of Catholicism and religion in general in today’s world, and he lays out a bold strategy to represent the faith in a post-Christian age. This book is wonderfully narrated.

Provides much hope for the future of Catholicism

Bishop Barron staunchly defends the Catholic faith with beauty, calmness and rationalism. Highly recommended book!

A great review of the history of the formation of Bishop Barron's faith, from childhood up to the present day, as well as a summary of his work, foundational beliefs and teaching style.
If you are quite familiar with Bishop Barron' s work, it will be a refreshing review, with John Allen Jr's expressive clarity.

Great for Bishop Barron's new followers!

Bishop Barron was in the Basselin honors philosophy program at Catholic University a year behind me.
Being one of the post-revolution seminarians in 1978-1980, called neoregressives by many of the older graduate students, and having served as a diocesan priest for 32 years, Bishop Barron has given me the words to express both what has happened over the last 40 years in the Church, and where I need to labor in renewing my own faith, and the parish community that I serve.
As Bishop Barron points out so well, it is in focusing on Jesus Christ,, and the beauty of the Catholic Church, that this renewal will take place. No one will dedicate his or her life to a Church whose primary mission is selfloathing for what we are not, and which is uncertain in its proclamation because of past sins of its members and leaders.
John Allen did a great job of presenting Bishop Barron's thoughts. However, the information on the book leads one to believe that Bishop Barron wrote this book, with John Allen being an assistant or ghost writer. What we have here is a book by John Allen about Bishop Barron. John did a great job.

It's good to read that a classmate has done good.

This was an interesting biography, but was not listed as one. I was expecting it to be similar to his other books and not a biography.

I loved the rich history injected into modern thought and happenings. Definitely took away a handful of positive ideas to think on.
