Wickham is planning to kill Mr Darcy. Elizabeth is out walking, during a tour with her aunt and an uncle, and oversees Wickham hiding with a gun. Great Jaff

Hateful Wickham

In this multi-trope plot, Elizabeth is terribly injured trying to save Darcy from a vicious scheme by Wickham, who narrowly escapes to torment him yet another day. Darcy rescues Elizabeth but, they are compromised in the process and must marry.

An excellent performance by Benjamin Fife. Really enjoyed it and highly recommend.

A very bad Wickham.

It’s story is interesting but the female voice performance is terrible for the most part

Characters are fun

I read this book when it first came out and was thrilled to hear it was going to be an audiobook. Even more so when I learned it was going to be narrated by one of my favorite narrators.

Except for the premise, and the beginning of the story, I had nearly forgotten all the details of the rest of the book. All the angst and all the drama and excitement was new to me again. I love this story. This writing team is superb.

Circumstances following Elizabeth’s fall down a ravine when she sacrificed herself to save the stranger approaching the bridge where she spied a gunman aiming at the coach, led to a forced marriage between Darcy (the intended victim) and Elizabeth the hapless heroine pushed down by the killer and severely injured. No one knew who she was and Darcy couldn’t abandon her when the inn he took her to had no one to help her.

Even though she saved him, and ultimately saved Georgiana’s life, Darcy was appalled by her low connections and even with her as he repeatedly made the wrong conclusion about her intelligence and abilities. He was a really big idiot for the longest time. And understandingly drove a huge wedge between them. He was agonizingly slow to recognize her wonderful qualities, which was really fun to watch. There’s a lot of getting into his head in this story, actually both of our dear couple’s heads.

Well, come together they do and it was worth the wait. It seemed that their biggest challenge was their own misunderstandings , but they didn’t know Wickham was planning a really heinous act to punish Darcy and Elizabeth, ultimately draining more money from Darcy’s wealth. And Lydia was Lydia at her best worst.

There’s so much more to the story, this is going to be a favorite re-listen. Highly recommended.

Original and excellently crafted

The is a forced marriage scenario. Elizabeth is enjoying a trip with her aunt and uncle, the Gardiners, when on a walk she spies a man intending to shoot at a carriage crossing a very narrow bridge. She interferes with the plot and is thrown into a ravine by the shooter for her troubles.

The carriage belongs to none other than Mr Darcy of Pemberley who must then rescue the brave woman who acted to save his life. The woman is severely injured and Darcy, after discovering her family, offers marriage and then leaves to ensure his sister’s safety.

Darcy returns briefly to marry and set up his new wife in a house while he leaves to conduct his “very important” business. With Elizabeth badly injured with a head injury and broken arm she doesn’t make the best impression on her new husband.

When Darcy eventually deigns to return he discovers a beautiful and intelligent woman. But what about her family and his? And Darcy is ever fond of the taste of boot leather. Will they ever overcome the many obstacles awaiting them (including identifying the man who attempted to kill them both) and find a true HEA?

I’m a fan of the narrator Benny Fife, but don’t love all his female voices. A few sound a bit old and wavering. Otherwise it’s an excellent listen.

Darcy Doubts Elizabeth’s Intelligence

There was a little bit of everything I would hope for in this story. It was a unique direction. There was a very wicked Wickham, a proud Mr Darcy and an enjoyable Elizabeth. There was plenty of drama, misunderstandings and great new storylines to satisfy anyone.

Wonderful story

I enjoyed the storyline of this book, it's unique in the category. It was enjoyable seeing the relationship of EB & FWD develop through their trials. I loved how strong EB was in this variation, Gerogiana also goes through great growth and development. I felt like the Wickham / Lydia storyline in London was really drawn out, it could have been half as long. Other than that, I enjoyed this story. The narration was good, he doesn't do female voices very well, but his atorytelling is well done.

Unique premise, entertaining story
