Now this was a story!

This was a beautiful love story, with many twists and turns that do not disappoint. There is some repetition, but it is not overdone. It is simply a story of redemption and love. I enjoyed it immensely.

As always....

There is something comforting in knowing that the warm timbre of Tim Campbells voice narrating a Christ Caldwell "heart of a duke" book will leave you smiling and satisfied. Having enjoyed every minute of this series to date I can safely say that this combo is something you can rely on!

With true heat where it's appropriate the loves and lives of these characters will enchant and entertain.

I got not stop listening or rather I couldn’t put this book down...I love all of Christi Caldwell books especially ‘Heart of a Duke Series’ but ‘To Enchant a Wicked Duke’ was like listening to family and a former meanie.

First thing is..The Duke of Rutland, who was so nasty in the other parts, yet turned a new leaf, if you had listened to Book 6 with Phoebe. Well he appears, one more time in this book for a great reason..now his sister-in-Law is in another spiders web!

The two main characters, another Duke (Nick Or Dominic) Of Huntly is just like the way The Duke of Rutland, full of hate. But Nick believes Rutland caused his father to commit suicide when he was 14..so ‘Nick’ is exactly like ‘Edmund’ was..REVENGE..and this time he goes after Edmunds sisters-in-law Justina who knows nothing about Nicks revenge..

As usual the love story is how Christi Caldwell writes but every time I listen I just feel I’m attached to these characters and as usual I DO NOT give out SPOILERS..but I wanted these characters to go on and on..
I adore Tim Campbell narration, out of every book I’ve listened, he’s NEVER disappointed me..I love the ‘Historical fiction sex’ scenes..they’re so well written yet never smut‼️ So again..recommend anything written by Christi Caldwell & spoken by Tim Campbell 👏👏👏👏

one of the best I have read

I totally enjoyed this book. The story is grand, and of course has a HEA. This is one of the authors best. The plot is not formulaic, and the twists and turns make sense. The romance between the two main characters is nicely developed and intense. I wouldn't mind if there were many more stories similar to this one.

Great characters and story

Just the right amount of angst and conflict, with loving and intelligent characters who truly learn valuable lessons but do not fight or resist for silly reasons or plot twists. Sorry it ended!

To Enchant a Wicked Duke

I wrote a great review but my kindle erased it before I could but submit. Just know it is a wonderful book and a Do not miss, in fact, this entire series is Don't want to put down adventure. Tim Campbell is truly gifted narrator and totally brings the characters to life in my minds eye! 5 Stars to Tim Campbell and 5 + Stars to Christi Caldwell ! 😀💗

Not horrible

As historical romances go, I’ve certainly read worse. It’s not Caldwell’s best work, but far from her worst.

The premise of the plot is fairly weak. In an attempt to get revenge on the man who “destroyed” his family when he was a child, the duke sets out to marry the heroine who is the sister in law of his nemesis and financially destroy her father and brother- thus making his nemesis sad because...well I guess because his wife would be sad that her father lost all his money-which he was going to do anyway because he was a gambling addict. Even under normal circumstances, it’s a pathetic and weak revenge. Ruin his nemesis’ daughter? Sure, that would be revenge. Marry his sister in law? Not so much. Add in the fact that her father and brother (especially her father) DESERVE to be ruined...and the whole concept just doesn’t work. To the point that in my head I kept thinking “don’t you dare give that man any money back!”

Still, I could overlook the weak premise of the story if Ms. Caldwell would simply invest in a good and relentless editor. Hours upon hours of this book (and most of her others) could and should be pared away simply by removing the repetitive sentences and phrases that dog this book. It is incredibly tedious to listen to the exact same descriptive phrases used ad nauseum. It’s not enough to simply make reference to her mother, for example. Every single reference must also be followed by a paragraph (word for word from each previous mention of her) that tells us her mother has been subjugated by the man she married, not allowed an opinion, cheated on, etc. The same for Nick’s sister and her “misery”. The same for Justina and her desire to marry for love. Ugh! We get it. We aren’t morons that need to be told the same thing over and over in order to fulfill a word count. Furthermore, we are never “shown” any of those things, merely “told” repetitively and in literally the exact same words.

One of the things I see sometimes in self-published authors is that they have the raw talent required to put together a really great book, but do not have the support system of experienced and brutal editors who will hone and pare raw material into something memorable. Some independent authors do invest in great editors, and it shows. Christi Caldwell has the raw talent of her romance writing peers: Balogh, Quinn and James...but she lacks a skilled editor that would force her to polish her work to their level. That obvious lack lends a level of amateurism to the work.

I definitely find reading this author far more palatable than listening due to the repetitive nature of the work, as a reader, I skim and skip over the repetitive phrases to get to the meat of the story. As a listener, it’s not as easy, and one is forced to suffer through those parts to get to the exciting bits.

Also, Tim Campbell is talented but has a tendency to read many of the heroes voices in a cartoonish villain voice. The only thing missing was hand wringing and a loud “Mwahahahaha!” evil laugh.

Broke Back Duke

The H totally loss his back bone. It is as though the the same book is being written with minor changes to the characters and it has finally ran its course.

Disappointing!

The author dragged out the revenge part and should have spent more time on the story.
