Lots of wonderful, tender moments in this debut novel

I enjoy audiobooks for long road trips, tedious chores and even gardening. This was a welcome distraction. Darcy and Elizabeth struggle throughout the novel to believe the other could love them yet the narrator’s excellent pacing and interpretation/performance kept the story moving forward—whereas reading it might have seemed repetitious before they finally reached their happily ever after. This story is long on misunderstandings and yearning that might have been tightened to keep the action progressing. Lots of wonderful, tender moments in this debut novel too! I anticipate more of Altman’s future work.

There were a few production “pops”/mechanical clicking-type noise in between scenes and/or sentences but not so often to ruin my overall enjoyment. Stevie Zimmerman’s narration is on point as usual. Well done!

Fabulous!

Such an enjoyable P&P variation! Much of this canon, and the few parts that deviate, are for the better (Lydia’s storyline, for example). It never made sense to me that Lydia should end up with GW. So this was a pleasant surprise. And it’s such a small part of this story, that I’m sure it isn’t exactly a spoiler.

As for the story. Darcy and Elizabeth end up alone together in a cabin after Darcy’s carriage crashes. For this part of the story alone, this book is worth reading. Or listening.

The familiar storyline of miscommunication ensues and our favorite couple have a difficult time of it. Oh it’s a long road, but a journey worth taking.

This is worth a credit.

Simply marvelous

Great narration and wonderful story. I like the disposal of Wickham better in this one than other variations. The sexual tension between Elizabeth and Darcy is sensual yet not racy or immodest to which I think Jane Austen would approve.

Really enjoyed this variation!

This is in my top 5 favorite Pride and Prejudice variations. Characters retain in their personal qualities (which causes the dramatic tensions).

5 stars all the way around. This story is better than the original. Did I actually say that??? Yes, yes I did. I like this ending so much better. I know that is dangerous territory as P & P is a classic. But, you like what you like. Also, the narrator is Stevie Zimmerman. I had never heard of her before but she has the most beautiful voice and I felt she did the characters well. I never got distracted by her. I am picky about narrators. Totally worth spending a credit on this one. I will listen to this again and again!

I loved this Pride and Prejudice Variation

Great book from the beginning to the end. Darcy and Elizabeth are traveling in a carriage during a snow storm. The carriage breaks an axle and crashes. Darcy is badly injured. The footman goes for help and Darcy and Elizabeth spend the night together in an unoccupied cottage overnight. All is well above board, but if anyone ever finds out they were together overnight, Elizabeth's reputation would be ruined. Darcy would have married her in a heartbeat, but Elizabeth has already rejected his earlier proposal and he believes he is the last person in the world she would ever marry. There is a total lack of honest conversation between the two and they both remain miserable, pining for one another. The listener must wait with patience to find out if they can break the logjam of misunderstanding a find their HEA.

Georgiana, Colonel Fitzwilliam, George Bingley, the Bennetts, Caroline Bingley, Wickham, and Lady Catherine all play a part in the story. Their lives turn out differently than in the Pride and Prejedice story, but all is good.

Read this years ago! Loved Stevie Zimmerman

Honestly my whole audible library is 80% pride and prejudice Stevie Zimmerman narrations and I cannot get enough! I read this a few years ago in a public library when I first started my P&P variation obsession and I just love revisiting it with this narrator. If you are in a binge like me, I high key recommend all of the stories this author has written. She understands Mr. Darcy and Lizzie. Although this is a clean variation it’s still really good. I am still searching for spicy Stevie Zimmerman Content pertaining to P&P variations

Delightful story and perfect narration!

I thoroughly enjoyed the story and found Stevie Zimmerman the perfect narrator for the story. Her voice is lovely and smooth and she sounds much like Keira Knightley when she voices Elizabeth Bennet—so much so that I pictured her as the story progressed. It was a delightful experience!

I’m now looking for more stories narrated by Stevie Zimmerman. I’m a new fan!
