About this listen
A powerful imposter. A land torn by war. Their only hope-a child born in innocence. And Iris has killed him.

Besaun is Crown Prince of the Fire Empire who would rather tinker than assume the throne.
Both are fated to save the world.
Iris knows little of her past and less of her heritage, but she knows Fire. It whispers to her, leaping at her urging, delighting her eyes.
But then, fire takes everything from her, and she learns her bloodlines terrible secret.
Her terrible secret.

But there is hope for them all, if she can face her deepest fear.
If she can master the fire.
To Bind Fire is book one of Empire of Ash and Song series! Perfect for fans of the faith themes of the Chronicles of Narnia, the powerful writing style of A Court of Thorns and Roses, and the clean sweet romance of Caraval!

Breathtaking
Oh, wow! What a book! What a narration! The story is so captivating and the narrator is a master, so skillfully pulled off. I'll be coming back to this book again and again. It's a story that kept me on the edge of my seat. The pacing was also great.
P.S. I saw someone previously had issues with chapters being cut off. This has been fixed.

Charming yet intense
This story is a complex one and honestly, probably one of my favorites. It features two perspectives both of which are from characters who struggle with identity and who they are.
The story covers many different topics including biases personal and otherwise as well as what love is and how who your parents are does not determined who you are.
I would highly recommend this book for anyone who is a big fantasy reader!

Decently well done.
One small disclaimer I'd like to give is that I usually listen to Audiobooks while at work. So please take this review with a grain of salt.
Overall I feel this book was decently well dontle. By that, I mean Chistian fantasy isnt really my go to genre. still over all the story was good. The plot plots but sometimes felt like I didn't know where it was going. I attribute that to world building, which can be expected and difficult in a first book. I feel it integrated Christian ideology well in a fantasy realm. such as faith, endurance, self doubt, and courage.
I would also like to mention I I'd enjoy Amanda Newman's narration of the story. the performance was well done and I appreciated how well she could portray emotion.

Wonderful! Read now
This book is fantastic through and through. I love listening to audiobooks, and this was an enjoyable one. The narrator did a good job (although I heard a few funky editing parts), but most importantly, the STORY kept me coming back for more!

Such a powerful story!!
D.E. Carlson has hit it out of the park! Not only is this a very well written story, but the themes that are present are so hope filled. I recommend this to anyone who loves adventure, dragons, a hint of romance and epic good vs evil!
The voice performance was pretty good. She sounded very young and the recording quality sounded slightly off. There were two chapters that ended before they were finished. I have a physical copy of the book so I was able to finish those chapters there.
Definitely still recommended though!

Fantastic fantasy!
I love fantasy but it can be hard to find fantasy books when you're a Christian. "To Bind Fire" is awesome! I love the story and characters and I love that it's clean and has Christianity! I can't wait to check out the second book and I also really enjoyed the narrator! She did a great job!

Amazing
This is an amazing and well thought out story! The accuracy of the feelings you get when talking to god is amazing. I nearly cried when she met him for the first time because that is exactly how I felt.
