Publisher's summary

This program includes a preface and afterword read by Beau Wise.

From Beau Wise and Tom Sileo comes Three Wise Men, an incredible memoir of family, service, and sacrifice by a marine who lost both his brothers in combat - becoming the only "sole survivor" during the war in Afghanistan.

Shortly after the 9/11 attacks, three brothers by blood became brothers in arms when each volunteered to defend their country. No military family has sacrificed more during the ensuing war, which has become the longest ever fought by America’s armed forces.

While serving in Afghanistan, US Navy SEAL veteran and CIA contractor Jeremy Wise was killed in an al Qaeda suicide bombing that devastated the US intelligence community. Less than three years later, US Army Green Beret sniper Ben Wise was fatally wounded after volunteering for a dangerous assignment during a firefight with the Taliban. Ben was posthumously awarded the Silver Star, while Jeremy received the Intelligence Star - one of the rarest awards bestowed by the US government - and also a star on the CIA’s Memorial Wall.

United States Marine Corps combat veteran Beau Wise is the only known American service member to be pulled from the battlefield after losing two brothers in Afghanistan. Told in Beau’s voice, Three Wise Men is an American family’s historic true story of service and sacrifice.

A Macmillan Audio production from St. Martin's Press

"Many American families have sacrificed much for our freedom, but few if any in modern times have given as much as the Wise family from my home state of Arkansas. Theirs is the story of true heroes - those who gave their lives as well as those who remain to carry on and honor the memory of Jeremy and Ben. It’s a story that needs to be told and more importantly, needs to be read and shared. It will remind you that America is a great country because of great, God-fearing people who pay a price for all of us." (Mike Huckabee, 44th governor of Arkansas)

Pride and Country

I consider myself a strong and non emotional man. But this book broke me and had me crying like a child. EXCELLENT book of an amazing family. A must read for any patriot. RIP Ben, Jeremy, and Dr. Wise. Your little brother ensured you will never be forgotten.

Fantastic Read

As the oldest brother of 5 and fellow servicemen I can really see the power of every single word spoken. This book should be read by all services and people of faith. Loved the book by far one of the best.

Thanks Beau

Beau, it was a pleasure to work with you, and your story is truly one of inspiration having first-hand seen how well you kept your composure around your jr Marines. The knowledge that you passed along to them/us is just as valuable as your being in country if not more, and I will always be thankful for having crossed paths with you, brother. Great book! Semper Fi.

Inspiring Story

This wasn’t the type of story I typically gravitate to but I’m glad I did. This is a true story of commitment, bravery, faith, and pride from
an American family and the sacrifices they made. It makes a person almost envious of the brotherhood and lasting connectivity of the relationships they forged under the most extreme circumstances. It’s an emotional story and the kind you won’t forget.

Tragic loss.

Very compelling story about a tragic loss for the family. I was impressed to hear about how many details the author could obtain about his brothers deaths! As a Gold Star Family member who lost his brother in Vietnam in 1969, my family was never really told anything about his death, nor was there any opportunity to engage in the ceremonies that this writer did. I'm glad to see that the military now honors the families more than they did when my brother was killed.

A special story very well told

Three brothers – patriots, proud, defending America in the Middle East And the youngest the only survivor left to tell the story and very proud to do it for for his big brothers. I think every American should read the story as a reminder of what is involved in the life and death demanded in this world have ridiculous expectations

Every day we enjoy and take for granted elements in the quality of our lives that come to us as a direct benefit of their sacrifice, and yet we fail to understand sacrifice. After completing the story I marveled and prayed that a healthy appreciation of the three Wise men would inspire our readers to better citizenship at the very least. Caring is what it is all about and yet most of us feel unable to be active and are caring for our own quality of life in America, or for some other reason we all fail to do even a little part of things every day. But this book it’s a nice eye-opener that lovingly empowers us to do a little bit better without feeling chastised about it. To restore a good understanding of the importance of God and country .
I am glad I got an audible format. It is a good story and a nice one to listen to. A fine companion.

Thank you very much, three Wise men and their families!
