Story
It's 1969, and the Apollo 11 mission is getting ready to go to the moon. But for half-black, half-Japanese Mimi, moving to a predominantly white Vermont town is enough to make her feel alien. Suddenly, Mimi's appearance is all anyone notices. She struggles to fit in with her classmates, even as she fights for her right to stand out. This historical middle-grade novel is told in poems from Mimi's perspective over the course of one year in her new town, and shows listeners that positive change can start with just one person speaking up.

Story
Persephone Wilder, a displaced genius posing as the wife of an American diplomat in Namibia, takes her job as a representative of her country seriously and comes up with an intricate set of rules to survive a range of problems: how to dress in hundred-degree weather without showing too much skin, how not to look drunk at embassy functions, and how to eat roasted oryx with grace. She also suspects her husband is not actually the ambassador’s general counsel but instead a secret agent in the CIA. She takes the new trailing spouse, Amanda Evans, under her wing....

A wonderful book to teach kids about immigration and compassion
My children and I are hooked on the Front Desk series. When they listened ahead without me I needed to go back to catch up — not some I often do with my kids’ books. This one provoked meaningful conversations about compassion, kindness and the importance of standing up for human rights.

Captivating...Wow...Just wow! 🤩
I was introduced to the Front Desk series 2 years ago and I have been emotionally moved. If you haven't already, I strongly recommend that you read Front Desk by Kelly Yang first. This book literally brought tears to my eyes. It’s moving and so inspirational how the author precisely explains events with so much EMOTION! The way the words are written, the hidden message and the reality of Mia's problems are so captivating. 10/10! Amazing!!!

Sooo sooo good Even for a 11 year old.
I give this book a 5 out of 5 because it is so informative and I think that every one should learn about what so many of the people in our country are going through today.
Though this story is fiction, so many things are actually happening right now right before our eyes. So many children are at the United States, Mexico border with the hope that they will see there parents again drying in the eyes. These children came with there parents in the dream of a better life but sadly most have been separated from those that they love. I do really think that this book would help teach children and adults what coming to this country to start a new life really is all about.
