About this listen

Darcy Flynn, a former police officer in East Quay, works as a night guard and a private investigator. Framed for a bad shooting while on the force, she is set on finding out the truth about what happened.

Sabrina Hawk, a successful accountant with an impressive client list, still suffers the aftereffects from an assault during her college years. Victim-blaming on campus was bad enough, but she loathes the authorities for mistreating her.

Darcy notices Sabrina often works late, and the elegant blonde stirs her innate protectiveness. Sabrina finds herself able to relax around Darcy. A mutual attraction develops, but then Sabrina's office is subjected to several break-ins. Wary of the police, she hires Darcy to investigate. Darcy fears Sabrina's reaction once she learns Darcy was a cop - a cop who left the force in disgrace.

Good first read for me on this author!

This was a first read for me from this author, so I went in thinking great thoughts having read the description narrative. Ex-cop meets woman with a tormented past. Both are still suffering from the after affects of incidents that drastically changed their lives individually. When trouble comes knocking at the door, both women are thrust towards each other to survive together...or not.

Overall good book that I enjoyed reading. There were some suspenseful parts that kept me on edge for a min, which was very exciting. The author did a great job describing those emotions and making them come to life. Romance sprung up in the mix, which is always how I like to read my books. A little CHEESY and downright nerdy at times , but good job there. The characters had good chemistry that was believable. I would definitely recommend this book, if you're looking for a light read.

ok

it was a bit corny at times and the reader took a while to get used to; sometimes it wad hard to tell who was supposed to be speaking; but overall it was a good book.

Should have trigger warning

It started out with a detailed sexual assault that almost made me stop listening right there. It went on to have an ok plot and story but the narrator made quite a few lines sound cheesy and even cringy.
