About this listen

You probably have a pretty good idea of the adult viewpoints on marriage, infertility, reproductive technologies, same-sex parenting, divorce, and adoption.

But have you ever considered the kids’ perspective?

Them Before Us blazes a new trail through the difficult terrain of marriage and family issues. It’s the only book that filters the complexities of marriage, familial relationships, and reproductive technologies through the lens of a child’s right to be raised by both their mother and father.

This book features the real-life stories of children by the hundreds, and every story makes the irrefutable case that a child’s mother and father are critical to their mental, physical, and emotional well-being.

Them Before Us dispels prevalent myths concerning children’s rights, such as:

  • Kids only need love and safety - moms and dads are optional.
  • Love makes a family; biology is irrelevant.
  • Marriage is a vehicle for adult fulfillment - it has nothing to do with kids.
  • Children are resilient and will “get over” divorce.
  • Studies show that kids with same-sex parents fare “no different” than kids with a mom and dad.
  • Sperm and egg donor kids are fortunate because they are so wanted.
  • Surrogacy is a great way to help wannabe parents have a baby.
  • Reproductive technologies are no different than adoption.

This well-researched book identifies the wide-ranging harms resulting from mother- and father-loss, and it provides a roadmap for effective children’s rights advocacy. Whether you’re seeking to make sense of your own fractured childhood, or yearn to prevent similar struggles for the next generation, Them Before Us will equip you to be the adult who should have advocated for you as a child.

By defending children’s rights, we protect the heart of every child and set a course that will decimate a myriad of the social ills currently plaguing our world.

Opened my eyes

I have always considered myself pro-life, but I had never heard or thought about how so much of what is done to have children hurts the children. A much needed book in anyone’s library who wants to do what is right, even if not popular.

life changing, very informative.

I have an idea why I opposed some things but affirmed others. Somehow I couldn't put into words exactly what I meant and why I believed exactly these ideas were valid. them before us authors put into words, action and real life scenarios all of my ideas and cause them to materialize. they were empathetic and very emphatic on every point and really give children the voice that has been stolen from them. their words were not empty phrases of fanatics but they gave proof to back their ideas, the reasons why their ideas was not only valid but necessary for the survival and well-being of all children.

A new thought

I appreciate being introduced to thinking about a child’s rights above my own. This is not the way the average person thinks.

Awesome

With this book, my convictions about the importance of marriage, children needing both their mother and father and a stable home are confirmed to be correct. I am now equipped for having hard conversations maybe with my friends who are convinced otherwise. Thank you so much to Katy Faust, Stacy Manning and all who helped make this book!
These stories deserve to be heard as stories promoting satisfying adults' wants over children's needs always increases.
This movement is what we badly need. Children deserve better!

Absolutely necessary!

This book is a must read for anyone with children, anyone that wishes they had children, or anyone who once was a child. Unless we look at life through the eyes of a child we will never truly see.

Eye-opening & Logically-sound

This book does a good job describing the insidious nature of selfishness so prevalent in our culture (myself included) and the dangerous consequences of confusing personal preferences with personal rights. For married couples considering IVF, this is a must-read. For married couples in general, this is a must read. For married couples considering adoption this is a must read. For everyone else, this is a must read. Give your mind some food for thought, read (listen to) this book
