Publisher's summary

Bridgeport, Connecticut, 1974. A crowd of more than 2,000 onlookers gathered. National media reported jumping furniture, floating refrigerators, and attacking entities.

Decades after the publicity quieted, more than 40 hours of never-before-released interviews with police officers, firefighters, and others tell the story as it actually unfolded. In The World's Most Haunted House, listeners will:

  • Relive the experience, the terror, the rampant emotions, and the unexplainable events that took place in that house as they happened
  • Have access to revealing excerpts from actual interviews, police reports, and rare documents
  • Access unreleased audio, poltergeist sounds, and an old radio broadcast

With The World's Most Haunted House, return to 1974 and feel the Lindley Street experience from the inside. Find out why it is deemed the haunting that should have brought the paranormal into mainstream science.

True Story

What drew me to this book is that it's an actual story. But it left much to be desired as far as experience. Rating given as props to real story and coverage.

Good documentation.

Over all, good documentation. Nicely told. A bit slow in the beginning.,however it picks up. Good follow up at the end. Nice to know what happened to the people involved.

Objective and Informative

This is a very straightforward account of the goings on surrounding this unique phenomenon. I was very impressed with the efforts made by the aauthor to state the facts without dramatization and editorializing. very credible- and very fascinating.

Superb!!!

Would you listen to The World’s Most Haunted House again? Why?

I've already listened twice, and read in hardcopy three times!

What did you like best about this story?

The dark journalism kept me on the edge of my seat!

What does Stephen R. Thorne bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He didn't. Plainly, the narrator didn't capture the scary edge to this book.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Both, but mostly it gave me the chills horror lovers crave.

Any additional comments?

If you haven't read William J Hall, you've really missed out! He's scary because he gets to the hard facts of a story in a fine journalistic way others don't. I couldn't put it down. Even better in hardcopy.

A factual book. Not a spooky one.

An incredible event like this, deserves a better re-telling.

It was factual, which is good. There’s no hyperbole. I just feel like it could have been told in a more interesting way.

It was a little disappointing.

Stephen R. Thorne knocks it out of the park!!!

I have had the pleasure of listening to (6) other books narrated by Master of His Craft, Stephen R Thorne, this one being the magical number 7.

I really cannot give this man enough praise for his work. He is astoundingly well spoken, with a voice that is an absolute joy to listen to, no matter the subject content.

I can honestly say that I would be seriously tempted to listen to his narration of a purely technical specifications manual if it so existed.

The book was well written, layed out, and expertly executed, a must read for anyone curious about the validity of the paranormal.

Loved the primary story!

I loved everything about the book except for the one chapter reviewing what he character said during an interview. I feel it threw me off a bit, but overall, I stuck to the book like glue.
