About this listen

Raised in a militant atheist family, Sy Garte fell in love with the factual world of science. He became a respected research biochemist with an anti-theistic worldview to bolster his work—and he had no intention of seeking a God he didn't believe in. That is, until the very science he loved led him to question the validity of an atheistic worldview. His journey to answer the questions that confronted him drew him into becoming a fully committed Christian, determined to show others the truth: modern science doesn't contradict God at all but instead supports Christianity.

In the first half of the book, Sy begins with how his experiences and quest for knowledge as a student and early in his career brought him to question his materialist assumptions. He goes on to reveal how lessons from physics, biology, and human nature-all presented for lay audiences to easily understand-actually argue for belief in God. In the second half of the book, Sy looks at the arguments often presented against God in academic and scientific settings and explains the false foundations on which they rest.

For those who have been told that the realities of science call for a rejection of God-but can't quite get rid of the feeling that this shouldn't be true-The Works of His Hands is an ideal reminder that the two don't have to be bitter enemies.

Wonderful AUDIO for a Deeply Satisfying Book

I read this book when it came out in 2019, and in fact have read it at least two more times. I was excited to find that it was out in audio. It's a book of very deep meaning and value, now with an excellent reader to help carry this important message to even more people: that science and religious faith are two mutually supportive ways of knowing God's truth.

Full of Grace and Full of Truth

Narration - 5/5
Great explanation of evolutionary theory and recognizing nuances within different syntheses (modern synthesis vs extended synthesis; convergence vs contingency).
Didn't go too deep into modern physics for laypeople, but got to the heart of the implications of salient facts such as the uncertainty principle.
Tone of humility throughout the entire book.
Fables definitely could've been more theologically correct, but he states very clearly that the fables are illustrative for very specific purposes independent of systematic theology.
Awesome Job Sy.

Informed, Balanced, and Refreshing

The author has an extensive history in peer-reviewed publications on biological science and converted to Christianity in his 40s. Evolution and quantum physics are two aspects of the natural world that he thinks point to God.

Science versus faith

How you can believe in God and still understand science. You don't have to just choose one or the other, they actually go hand in hand

this guy doesn't bring anything new to the table . He sounds like Dawkins without the Christian and God jokes .

Not biblical

Sorry I just won’t listen past someone trying to take the explanations of this world instead of the written Word of God. Is it beyond our God to make man from the dirt? To make this world with built in age just like Adam made directly into a man, skipping the baby stage.. sorry He revealed Himself to the simple and lowly people in this world. He is above all! He needs no explanation. I pray sir someday you can expect what HE said about this world and Himself instead of human wisdom. Don’t be deceived anyone speaking against the Word is wrong.
