old fashioned story time

this story reminded me of old fashioned stories and parables. it took me back to a place when my aunt would make up stories to tell me while we layed on the grass looking at the clouds.

Short story

A very short fairy tale like story. It is a nice break listening to a very long novel. Very entertaining.

Sometimes you get more than you wish for . . .

. . . .and other times wishes come true because you make it so.

The wishing ring is one of those fun fairy tales (literally) that begins with a good deed and ends with hard work. It might even have a happily ever after. This is a fun story that might contain a lesson or two about sharing, greed, and how to find true happiness. I like it because it is a bite-sized story. You can get to it and through it all in under an hour, but still get a lot from it. If Vernon were a chef I'd call this an Amuse-bouche ofa tale. Tasty, tantalizing, and fun but just a nibble. This is good way to get introduced to Vernon's other works; which I heartedly recommend you to do. ASAP.

Moore narrates the story well, although I have to say I did snigger at Ramsey's wife's voice. Still, he made it feel like you were sitting around a campfire and listening back when folktales and fairy tales carries some weight. He made it more fun. Even though I did receive a promo code for this review it in no way influenced my considerations of the material, and in fact, inspired me to be more honest. In fact, getting a code generally makes me harsher as a reviewer as I am more often concerned what someone like Me will decide based on my review.

Great story, flat preformance.

The story was a great little parable, definitely a good short tale for the kiddos or to fill time. The reading is uninflected and flat. The wry humor, sense of greed and cunning are lost in a flat cheery background buzz.
