Culled from the Pope's encyclicals, apostolic letters, addresses, occasional speeches, and other writings, The Wisdom of John Paul II is a powerful, illuminating distillation of the Pope's most moving, wise, and penetrating statements on a range of important issues. In this compilation by Nick Bakalar and Richard Balkin, the Pope addresses spirituality in modern life, human rights and religious freedom, marriage and family, morality, peace, prayer, women's roles, poverty, and many other concerns vital to Christian life and thought. Saint Pope John Paul II

Saint Pope John Paul II was the pope during most of my life and his devotion to the Blessed Mother Mary, the capacity of forgiveness, and devotion to the Roman Catholic faith.

This little book shows this deep rooted faith and convictions. It shows his beliefs of how important women are in the faith and in life. I recommend this book to anyone to read or listen to.

A fantastic book

A book that holds wisdom and immense intelligence. I found this book to be developmental and maturative for a young man coming of age such as myself. I found this book relatable and generally written at the highest degree. I further highly recommend this book.

Catholicism clarified for me

This book answered many questions for me about the Catholic faith. JP II clearly states the reasons behind the church teaching and why the church doesn't bend and alter it's teaching to suit the repeated demands of the secular world to do so. If anyone really wants a balanced view on the controversial teachings of the Catholic church - the hard ones, ie. abortion, population control, euthanasia, the death penalty, the UN and globalization of religion, national soveregnty, personal responsibility, and more, then this book is for you. Some issues are so complex that you have to have a very high intelligence just to be undecided. After listening to this book you'll be more informed and more able to decide what is true about the Catholic faith. Because that is all that matters - is it true or not? Not "how do I feel about it?"
