About this listen

The New York Times bestselling author of The Ex Hex and The Kiss Curse brightens up the Winter Solstice with another delightfully spooky novel following Bowen Penhallow and the girl he feels strangely drawn to—especially when she becomes his only hope of salvation after a strong spell sends them to a Yuletide celebration... more than 50 years in the past.

Bowen Penhallow has always been a loner, studying dark and ancient magic on a mountaintop in Wales. He prefers it that way. But when his friend Colin—who happens to be a ghost—asks him to attend a Yuletide wedding at a grand estate deep in the Welsh countryside, Bowen reluctantly agrees.

Tamsyn Bligh is not a witch, but she makes her living off of them. As a procurer and seller of magical items, Tamsyn’s business is not always above board, but she’s been trying to fix that (mostly.) Bowen is an occasional customer—as well as the star of several of Tamsyn’s dirtiest dreams—but she’s been around enough witches to know that, as a human, getting involved with one is not the smartest idea. She’s finagled an invite to the Witchy Wedding of the Century in the hopes of finally making a score big enough to retire. Just one priceless magical artifact from Tywyll House would set her up for life.

But Tamsyn isn’t the only one sneaking about in Tywyll House, and the mix of a very strong spell combined with a wedding mishap transports Bowen and Tamsyn into Tywyll House’s past, to the Yuletide Celebration of 1958. As Bowen and Tamsyn work together to get back to the present, they must also face off with the origins of Tywyll House’s haunting, the suspicions of their fellow witches…oh, and the fact that somewhere between the mistletoe and the bonfire, they might be falling in love.

Tell me you didn’t read book 1 or 2…

The narrator messed up the Americans but overall she did great. Great final book of the series

It's cozy and steamy

This was all I wanted it to be.A cozy vibes setting and steamy tasteful moments. It was a perfect 3rd to the series. The narrator was excellent. As a fan of the first 2 books, my only wish is that the narrator would've given the Jones' witches their American accent.

Horrible Narration

I was really frustrated with the narrator. She clearly did not know about the previous two books. She read Gwyn’s character in a Welsh accent. Gwyn is literally American…not Welsh. Why would you randomly give her character a Welsh accident??? The publisher messed up by having a British narrator for this when the last 2 books had American narrators.

Perfect example of how a narrator can make a story!

I absolutely love this series. I feel like book two was my favorite story line but this one is my favorite audio specifically bc of Mary Jane Wells! She makes the banter hit and gives each character the best inflection (and correct accents). Bowen and Tamsyn are perfectly suited for each other and their story was fabulous!

lovely addition to the series

this was a great addition. it was really interesting to see how a non-witch and powerful witch Duo would be portrayed in an interesting way. the banter was great. All the good vibes.

Wish I read it instead

Loved listening to the first two books so it never crossed my mind to read this one instead but I WISH I had read the reviews before buying the audio version. The narration is painful - Gwen and Vivi are American from Georgia but they were given the worst and very heavy Welsh accents. Super disappointing.

What is going on. Accents changed

This is the third book in the series and a totally different narrator. Now Vivi and Gwen, who had the correct accents of a Georgian in the first two books, suddenly have the welsh accents of the Penhallows.

Not The Same

While the reader did a great job with the main character’s for this book, she completely altered the way the main character’s talk from the past two books. The accents she gave them didn’t make sense. I have listened to book series where the voice actor changed before, but this transition felt the most abrupt.

Loved!

The narrator was amazing! Loved all the voices she could do and the silly way she read this story! It was so much fun! And I freaking knew I would love Bowen the most out of all the brothers! Tamsyn was such a wonderful FMC! She was so funny and sweet and strong and I loved her and Bowen together! They just had chemistry right off the bat and I was here for it!

The story was great, I loved the time traveling aspect of it, and getting to meet your dead relatives is a really cool experience.

I really enjoyed this story!
