About this listen

Hadley Donavan can’t believe she has to go home to Nebraska for her sister’s wedding. She’s gonna need a wingman and a whole lot of vodka for this level of family interaction. At least her bestie agreed he’d man up and help. But then instead of her best friend, his evil twin strolls out of the airport.

If you looked up “doesn’t-deserve-to-be-that-confident, way-too-hot-for-his-own-good billionaire” in the dictionary, you’d find a picture of Will Holt. He’s awful. Horrible. The worst - even if his butt looks phenomenal in those jeans.

Ten times worse? Hadley’s buffer was supposed to be there to keep her away from the million-and-one family events. But Satan’s spawn just grins and signs them up for every. Single. Thing.

Fine. “Cutthroat” Scrabble? She’s in. She can’t wait to take this guy down a notch. But somewhere between Pictionary and the teasing glint in his eyes, their bickering starts to feel like more than just a game....

I tried. Unfortunately the narrator was not to my liking. Perhaps I'm just used to my favorites.

Could not get past narrator

A well narrated fun rom-com with a sexy down home feel. It will brighten your day with laughter, a bit of frustration and a good story. Enjoy

I loved watching this one unfold, but the narrators voice was so nasal that I almost didn’t continue. Once the story got me hooked it was hard to put down, but I think this book being fine by a full cast would be amazing. Then you would catch more of the depth of the characters and get more emotion than the presentation which sometimes came across as monotone or at best 2-3 different moods.

Great Storyline!

The story was a bit predictable but the characters were good. The narrator's vocal fry almost made me quit early on. Her voice for the male was not much different making it hard to know who was taking at times.

Enjoyable but skipped chapters because it was too explicit. Did not add much to the story which was otherwise entertaining. The narrator was good.

Good but too racy for me

The story is ok but the narrator and the way she finished sentences is almost Valley Girl meets millennial. Painful.

Narrator is painful

I enjoyed the characters and storyline of this book. It’s kind of a typical steamy romance, but well written. As others have pointed out, the narration really made it hard for me to finish. It felt like her attempt to sound edgy was to purr the end of most sentences. She has a great voice and cadence, but the flat, breathy, fry qualities at the end of nearly every sentence made me feel like she was impersonating a cat reading the book. Speeding it up a little helped this and I ended up enjoying it overall.

Enjoyable overall

I read a popular many reviews that complain about the narrator and the way she ends her sentences, well I didn't hear that. Then I remembered I changed the speed of the narration, so I didn't get that annoyance that others have issues about. Try using a speed of 1.15x that one works for me. You may find the story good.

Okay for the story...it is pretty simple. Brother thinks his brother's friend is a gold digger and is off to provide it. That in itself can make a good story, but I got so irritated by the constant dialog about gold digger. It seemed like it was on continuous replay. Continuously through chapter 18 it was on repeat, oh we get a few "I am wrong", but we go back again.

So...it's okay.

This book reminds me of the Penny Reid Knitting in the City series. Cute and romantic, with a predictable end. Definitely worth a listen too as free one.

The narrator has a good voice and I think she does both Will and Hadleys parts well, but I agree with another reviewer in that she is a bit annoying as she draws out the last word at the end of every sentence. If you can get past this though it’s not so bad

Predictable but good

Ms Navarro has such a growling voice I was completely distracted by it. Her voice would be better suited for mysteries. I did however enjoy the story line.

Great story not so great narrator
