Not the narrator’s best work

I wish that I had read and not listened to this audio version. I’ve enjoyed the narrator’s work in the past, but I have to say this was pretty awful. This may have been caused by how it was produced or edited, and be less the narrator’s fault.

Brilliant story

Loved the continuation of Chee and Bernie's story. Excellent tale. Loved the historical reference to Bears Ears.
Narrator was not good.

the pronunciation of some Navajo words and towns. we're not consistent with area or licals

Easy to read/listen

I like the native american traditions, places and history and the twists in the book.

I liked this one

i found this one easier to follow than the first 2-3 anne Hillerman books. Characters WERE developed. They changed in unexpected ways. The editing of the audio was definitely rough.

Not as good as other Hillerman audio books

The performance needed a bit more work,
but even with that - the story was not very strong. Of course I love the Navajo characters and have for a long time, so this was a little disappointing.

Tired of hearing about Biden & Trump

I have always loved the Tony Hillerman series and went on to read the Ann Hillerman extension with Bernie. The addition of the politics of Trump and Biden added nothing to the overall story. I read to escape the craziness of the day. Otherwise I liked the story.

Another winner

While it started a bit slow it quickly picked ip to a nail biting ending. The only issue with the performance was what seemed like louder and forced pronunciation of Navajo words

how everything was so well interwoven.

I liked the complete story from beginning to end. I did find the phone call at the end from Leaphorn a bit odd to be written as it was.

Disappointing narration

The story seemed ok but I can’t stand the narration. It’s monotone and dull. It was difficult to listen to the end of the book and enjoy the story. I hope this is the last one she reads!
