Acerca de esta escucha

Authors Robin Moore and Michael Lennon team up in this exciting new novel to tell the "fictionalized" stories of the men who have risked it all for the U.S.A.: the Green Berets. They take us from firefights on the Cambodian border during the Vietnam War to the streets and alleyways of Iraq today. They teach us what it was really like to patrol the streets of Mogadishu in the days of Black Hawk Down. They show the horror that was Saddam's Iraq during the first Gulf War. They take us to the moonscape that is Afghanistan in search of the Taliban. The Wars of the Green Berets continues the saga of Moore's classic The Green Berets, revealing more than a few tantalizing secrets and anecdotes for the first time.©2007 Robin Moore and Michael Lennon (P)2012 Audible, Inc. Reseñas editoriales

The United States Army Special Forces, also known as the Green Berets, handle the most high-risk, unconventional, undercover missions in the U. S. military. And now, in Robin Moore and Michael Lennon's The Wars of the Green Berets: Amazing Stories from Vietnam to the Present Day, listeners learn exactly what goes on when these brave, intelligent men are in the field. A riveting performance from narrator Tori Kamal brings tension to these fictional stories, including battles against Al Qaeda, undercover missions inside Iraq during the reign of Saddam, and fighting on the Cambodian border during the Vietnam War - tales sure to thrill and terrify an audience yearning to experience the realities of special reconnaissance and counter-terrorism.

This book was more of a collage term paper. It had a strong feeling of needing a more personal level of interaction with the reader. If you like the history of war it’s a great read. If you want a personal recount of a soldiers actions and adventure go elsewhere.

Collage level book report

The story content is great. It was hard getting past the narrator's robotic tones, and lack of military knowledge. If you are going to narrate a military book, please have knowledge on military terminology.

Robot Narrator

The overall story is a good one if you like historical narratives of army life and combat. That being said, the narrator was clearly spoken and easy to listen to as the story goes. However, the narrator does not know how to read or navigate correctly through Army acronyms. This is imperative when reading a story like this as it takes away from the enjoy ability of the book, especially for former military. It grates on my nerves. Enjoy the book, it’s good.

Bad Narrator, good story

Narrator was not good for the book. Also explaining the acronym is good but then he would pronounce each letter every time instead of just saying it (i.e. would say GEN instead of General). good book with great stories of dedicated Soldiers and hero's.

Review of narrator

Great book the only issue I had was spelling out all the acronym for ranks and certain others that are read out but all in all great story.

Great book

Completely understand why this book is in the “plus/included” column— the narrator can’t read! Other than that, it’s a decent set of stories.

Great book providing a glimpse into the Army Special Forces world. Moore clearly developed and maintained a long term rapport that paid off when he set out to write this book.
The narration very nearly killed the audiobook version. Anyone reading a book like this for audio either needs to be familiar with military terms, acronyms and abbreviations, or they really need a good coach to get them up to speed.

Great book, horrid narration

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Very interesting story, but I couldn't finish it because of the horrendous narration. The guy kept spelling out every abbreviation... C-P-T and S-S-G-T, rather than Captain or Staff Sergeant. T-O-W missile, instead of tow missle. But the kicker is pronouncing "subsequently" as "sub see quently". Get a narrator that speaks English and has some understanding of military terminology.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Tori Kamal?

Any literate corporal

Subseequently C-P-T Smith

Perfect lengths of chapters stuffed with well narrated stories. Just wish the narrater could pronounce more of the words properly and just say General instead of G E N so and so. wasted time with always spelling out an abbreviation instead of just saying what it’s for. overall though awesome jib thank you!

Great stories that all Americanshould know.

The book is great, and the narrators voice isn’t horrible, but please get someone familiar with military acronyms. If I hear C P T instead of Captain, M S G instead of Master Sergeant, S I G I N T instead of Sigint, etc etc, one more time… I’m going to cuss.

Awesome book, but narration will kill you.
