About this listen

Nick Randall is an archeologist who believes mankind isn't alone on Earth. When a mysterious benefactor funds his research, he departs to find the lost city of Vilcabamba. Hidden deep in the Amazon, Randall believes the city holds proof that his controversial theories are true. Upon arriving at the ruins, he mysteriously disappears. Randall's beautiful daughter Samantha learns of her father's disappearance from his mentor Francisco Andrade who pleads for her help. An accomplished archeologist herself, Sam must decide if she will set aside her career and search for the man she blames for her mother's death. But someone else is looking for her father as well. Francis Dumond, a shadowy man with unlimited resources, will stop at nothing to find Vilcabamba and use its technology to control the world. It's a race against time as Sam battles to find her father, prove his theories and stop Dumond before a stratovolcano destroys Vilcabamba and all of them as well.

An Excllent Read You Can't Put Down

Any additional comments?

As someone else said this book wraps many different genres into a single exciting read. The dramatization is enjoyable as well. I never thought I'd enjoy an audiobook with dramatization and my initial instinct was to be distracted by it. However, once you are about half an hour into the book it sets atmosphere without your conscious mind acknowledging it and makes the entire experience more enjoyable. Everyone has said it before, this book is a wild ride from beginning to end and you won't be able to put it down. Well worth a credit, you've got to give it a try!

The Vilcabama Prophecy

This was annoying at the start because I do not care for dramatization, sound effects and music in my audiobooks. That being said I found the book really good.Narrated nicely by Christopher Shelby Slone. An archeologist is lost in Peru.He has been kidnapped by a former associate who wants to find a lost civilization with a power supply ready to steal. The daughter of the archeologist goes looking for him.People die, things explode, etc.I was provided this book by the author, narrator or publisher free for review.

MOST exciting thriller-mystery-suspense-adventure

(Audiobook)

I first picked up the book ... and just didn't have the time to read it. When I came across the audiobook, I was soo thrilled!!! And I was totally not disappointed ... On the contrary, I was WOWED by the audio.
Full effects ... reminds me of some of the higher quality podcasts when they first came out.
Tight story, very exciting, informative (no info dump!), and thrilling.
No plot holes!!
The characters are intense, flesh-and-blood with credible actions, reactions, and emotions.
Narration and production match the quality of the book.
Pinch me, am I dreaming?! This book ranks right up there with how Scott Sigler reeled me into audios in the first place.

Highly recommend this book and audiobook for anyone looking for a treasure hunting, archeological suspense thriller ...

Excellent firt experience

This is the first audio book I have experienced, so I did not know what to expect. I read and love the book, so this had large pages to fill.

Mr. Sloan did an excellent interpretation of Mr. Rapoza's story. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because I think I would have preferred a woman's voice reading the female dialogue. I wish I could have only deducted half a star for that opinion. My rating would be 4.5/5 ☆

I would highly recommend this to anyone that enjoys thrillers and audio books.

Music, sound effects, high action, great narration

Like the characters in this audiobook, the listener gets more than expected. Producer and reader, Christopher Shelby Slone enhances his narration with a full underscore of music and sound effects. It adds to the adventure enormously.

Like all good archaeological adventures – think "Indiana Jones" as a prime example – The Vilcabamba Prophecy throws the characters deep into uncharted jungles where they discover an ancient tribe, potentially alien artefacts, subversive plots and danger at every turn. This story is a lot of fun, made more so by the excellence of Slone’s narration.

Author Robert Raposa’s novel is a thrill ride from start to finish. His characterisations are well-developed, with their personality traits and interactions being both believable and satisfying. As they dodge bullets, rock falls, an erupting volcano and more, their fraught mission to uncover the secret of Vilcabamba never lets up the tension.

It begins when controversial archaeologist, Dr. Nick Randall, and his team are attacked and go missing in Peru. The career of his estranged daughter, Samantha, has followed in her father’s footsteps and she’s called in to continue his work and, in doing so, hopefully find him. From there, plots and counterplots unfold as the two Randall teams fight to survive, find each other, and reach the finish line before the bad guys.

The quality of writing and narration, along with the music and sound effects, puts The Vilcabamba Prophecy up there with the very best of the 40+ audiobooks I’ve heard so far this year. It’s difficult to pause because the adventure is so enjoyable and the production quality is so high.

Bravo to both Robert Rapoza and Christopher Shelby Slone. I review a lot of self-published audiobooks on my site at SaidNotRead dot wordpress dot com but rarely do they reach the quality and heights of this one.

Highly recommended.

History, Mystery,Thriller & Science Fiction in one

The book is a combination of history, mystery, thriller and science fiction in one. The story is totally original and was well written. The genre of science fiction doesn't hold much appeal for me, but this was a very intriguing story. Parts of it I absolutely loved and other parts not so much. The narrator did a great performance on this book. Some listeners will enjoy some of the sound effects (jungle birds, music, etc) while others might not. Those sound effects were mainly at chapter breaks and reminded me of listening to mystery theater growing up. I was voluntarily provided with this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, narrator, and/or publisher. My review is not a synopsis of the book, but rather my opinion of it.
