Good book, but not my genre

I really like post-apocalyptic books, but I don't enjoy super-hero or "special powers" type books. That's what this is. I suspected it, but I gave it a shot for about 8 hours . . . but gave up. It was very well written, and if I liked that genre, I think it would be a great book.

Finally

Finally getting to enjoy this wonderful series as an audible book. The narrator does a masterful job of bringing Chaney's rich, complex story to life.

Addicting!

This is the series that got me hooked on JN Chaney's books! You will too! I feel like it has been so long since I have read this, I need to read them again! Love them!

What is going on with the voice?!

I hate to give a low rating based in a voice so trying to not rate it solely on that. the voice used to narrate this story is so weird...at any minute I expected him to say " myy preeecious". it's so over done and completely takes away from the story. Felt like I was listening to the land of Hobbits or something. the story seems good so far but don't think I can finish based on...the voice. 🤣

I’m mesmerized

The narrator is perfect for this story, he really brings it home. The plot moves along at a good pace and the explanation of phenomena is convincing. I love it when I find a book that I can’t wait to return to as soon as I’m off work or free of some other obligation .

This was such a great story and great adventure. I loved every part of it and couldn’t wait to listen every day!

Great book with an original concept!

I really enjoyed this story and the narrator really hit his stride by the second book.

I saw a lot of comments about the narrator and I have no idea why. Perhaps ppl should learn to slow some down. Listened to this at .90 and it was great. I love when a narrator can handle male and female and other genders so well. Thanks goes to Steve Barnes.

I love JN Chaney's work and this was a steal as a complete set. Now to await more credits for another.

Great Story, Terrible Voice Actor

I’m enjoying the story but I cannot stand the voice acting. I returned the book after Book 1 because of how bad it was.

The VA used an identical raspy whisper for every character, including the main character and narrator. Everyone except one side character, which I do not understand. Give the main character or narrator your base voice and give inflections for everyone else to separate it. This made it very hard to follow along. Will be purchasing and reading the last 3 books myself.
