Characters work well together

I found the overall story rather lacking. I'll admit i normally listen to books with run times of 14-40+ hours so for me this seemed very short. It was well written and the full cast gave it depth. I loved the different sound effects that helped to bring the story to life. The biggest reason for my 3 star overall is that this really just felt like act 1 of a much larger story.

Good story, some audio hiccups

I thought the story line was good. Starting from an over-the-shoulder perspective of the "newsy", I enjoyed diving into this space-opera military drama from a civilian's perspective.

Things I liked: The characters were pretty well developed, even in a short novella, and the dialogue felt pretty clean. The story itself was reasonably good, though a lot of it focused on some pretty long and descriptive combat sequences.

Regarding the audio, this is one of the first "full immersion" stories I've listened to, and overall it was pretty well done. Some of the sound effects I didn't enjoy, and the mixing was a little inconsistent as far as volume and quality, but overall it wasn't hard on the ears.

Things I wasn't as fond of: I didn't like the perspective shifting away from the journalist MC. The extended combat sequence from the perspective of one of the leaders of the military outfit was alright, but I would have preferred to stick with one POV for how short the novella was.

Again, with the audio, one of the pilot's accents was so unintelligible that it really took me out of the story. Everything else was at least average-or-better, and the narrator was always very consistent and enjoyable to listen to.

So I think the story gets 4*, but the audio portion gets 3* for some of the inconsistencies and that one section where I couldn't understand them.
