About this listen

The continued story based upon the cult television series, The Tribe. Narrated by several original cast members - as well as featuring guest roles, music, and sound effects - this is the second novel in the long-awaited saga continuing on from where the TV series ended up after five seasons and a sequel to The Tribe: A New World (Season Six equivalent), with 'The Tribe: A New Dawn' the equivalent of Season Seven. The story is brought to life in this audiobook dramatization by the Cloud 9 Screen Entertainment Group.

Following the many challenges in the best-selling novel, The Tribe: A New World, the Mall Rats find themselves faced with an even greater struggle as they try to unravel the many unexplained mysteries they now encounter.

What was the real mission of the United Nations survival fleet? Who is the enigmatic leader of The Collective? What really did occur at Arthurs Air Force Base? Is there something more sinister to the secrets revealed on the paradise island where they are now stranded?

Forced to resolve the agonizing conflict in their personal lives, the Mall Rats must also decide which path to take and whether or not to confront the ghosts of their past in their battle to survive against an ominous adversary. With the very real threat of human existence becoming extinct, can they endure against all odds to secure a future and the promise of a better tomorrow? Or will they suffer the same fate as the adults who had gone before and perish?

The tribe must fight not only for their lives but face their greatest fears to prevent the new world plunging further into darkness - and ensure hope prevails in a new dawn.

And that they keep their dream alive.

more of what I loved

this is a weird one for me, as it's not "really" an audiobook. (in the sense of what I've grown accustomed). it's a dramatization.

from that stand point, it does it's job well.

this felt like another chapter of the show. they introduced a new big bad. they maintained a through line. and like the tv seasons that came before it, they take you on a journey with characters you've grown to love.

the only miss for me, is the fact that I'm still not totally sold on dramatizations vs acted audiobooks. I mean, they have a lot of the original cast, why not just alter the writing to fit the acted audiobook style?

still a pleasure to listen to, though.

Season... 7, isn't it?

The Tribe means the world to me. I first stumbled at it accidentally on my country's national TV (remember those days?) as a kid, and it had a profound effect on me, influencing my tastes and my love for post-apocalyptic fiction to this day.

Now, however, I'm an *adult* (wink, wink, Tribe fans!), and yet The Tribe had remained a product for kids and teenagers. "Young Adults" if we want to be politically correct.

This is the second Tribe book I've listened to, here at Audible. The writing still sounds like episodes from a kids show. In that sense the attempt at a "dramatization", rather than a regular old audio book benefits it greatly. The return of (some of) the original cast (miss the rest of you, guys!) and the use of the original soundtrack brings out all the nostalgia in the best of ways. A real treat.

However, it is first and foremost a book, so (at my age) one cannot help but wonder what was the point the creators wished to arrive at with this whole endeavor? What is the conclusion supposed to be? What is all about? Where are the character arcs? What's the point of it all? Was there ever one? Or was it always about releasing more and more seasons?

For a true fan like myself, one that keeps the dream alive, I'll certainly wait for the next book and keep hoping for some closure.
