About this listen

Forced to choose between loyalty and love...

Avery is a Golden Child with the ability to heal any illness or injury. She lives a sheltered life, dutifully healing hopefuls from around the globe. Although she dreams of freedom, she fears disrupting the status quo—that is, until her powers go on the fritz, threatening her health and her relationship with her government caretakers.

In search of answers, Avery travels through The Rift to the realm of the fae, intimidatingly beautiful beings with powers humans don’t understand. Their prince, Riel, has motivations of his own when he agrees to teach her about her rare magic. But as they work together, the two are drawn to each other.

Just as Avery manages to unlock the full potential of her powers, a betrayal shakes Riel’s House, putting pressure on the already tenuous relationship between humans and the fae. Caught in the middle, Avery and Riel will have to decide what matters most to them: loyalty to their respective nations, or their feelings for one another.

This debut novel from Hannah Levin will appeal to those new to the Romantasy genre as well as seasoned Romantasy fans who enjoy adventure and world-building, such as that in A DEAL WITH THE ELF KING and THE CRUEL PRINCE, and sweet, slow-burn romance like Grace Draven's RADIANCE.

This is a pleasant read! You can't go wrong when you grab this Romantacy!

I don't normally read Romantacies, but this turned out to be a pleasant read. The main character is Avery whose very much aware of how limited her life has been, living and working at the White House, unable to leave the compound. Only going outside to the fence to heal people. Until the day she almost kill herself while struggling to heal one more person! Then crossing the rift and finding Riel a Elven prince waiting for her arrival. And he opened up a whole new world and a freedom she had never experienced before. A son of king who graced her an entrance onto his lands hosting her until she healed what appeared to be a magical wound. And Riel was assigned to be a spy and teacher/confidante. Only Riel soon learned that you can't control what your heart wants.
I absolutely know that I am old a jaded and a prolonged sex scene actually bores me 😴, but I only had to forward past the second one in the book. (Luckily there was only 2 of 'em, and I admit the book wasn’t ruined because they were there.)
I always view a new narrator with some trepidation but I realized that Molly Stark was good, really good! You just can't go wrong when you pick up this Romantacy audiobook!

Adventure, Romance and good audiobook

In this fantasy romance, Avery, a Golden Child with healing abilities, lives a sheltered life under government care. She ventures into the fae realm when her powers fail, seeking answers. Prince Riel helps her unlock her rare magic, and their connection deepens. As Avery masters her powers, a betrayal within Riel's House threatens the delicate relationship between humans and the fae. Avery and Riel must choose between loyalty to their nations and growing love. Hannah Levin's debut novel blends adventure, intricate world-building, and a sweet, slow-burn romance. I listened to the audiobook narrated by Mollie Stark, who brought the characters to life with her engaging performance. Her narration added depth to the story, making it even more immersive. The captivating story and relatable characters make this a must-read for fantasy romance fans. I was hooked from start to finish and can't wait for the sequel!

I Couldn't Stop listening to this One

I truely enjoyed this book and did not want to stop listening to it. The world building in the land of the fae and the variety of animals and people described was beautiful. The main character grows quite a bit throughout the book as she experiences life. Narrator does a Great job with the entire storyline.

Great narration

There is a rift that separates our current world and the Fae land and they are kept very separate. But after the rift opened, some humans were blessed with a bit of magic, including Avery. Avery has the skill of healing, but she’s becoming ill herself, so she’s brought to the Fae as a last ditch effort.

The younger prince, Riel, is assigned as her babysitter. And Avery is instantly smitten. Although Riel is much more reserved about his feelings, we do get his point-of-view a few times for more insight into his character. I enjoyed the evolution of their relationship, how sweet it was.

The worldbuilding is easy to understand and grasp, so this feels like a great read for a fantasy newbie. And while this feels more like a young adult book, there are some spicy scenes between Avery and Riel.

Technically this is the first in a new series, but the ending felt complete and I’m interested in more.
